Cerce (Greek)

Circe
J. W. Waterhouse
Circe is the daughter of the Sun and the sister of Aeetes, the king of Colchis. She lives on the island of Aeaea. Homer says she is the daugher of Helios (the driver of Apollos chariot) and Perse.

When Homer's Odysseus and his men landed on Aeaea, Circe served the men a potion that changed them into swine. Odysseus was able to resist her magick and free his men from her spell and bed the goddess who bore him a son.

Circe was known as the dread goddess. She is also a goddess of the moon and the night.
