Athena/Minerva (Greek/Roman)
Athena was the patron Goddess of the Greek city-state of Athens. Athena was the virginal Goddess of the mind, intelligence, and wisdom. She is also the Goddess of all arts, crafts, and sciences. Athena was especially associated with weaving-both physically and metaphysically.

Athena is portrayed as an armed warrior, Her spear the piercing power of the mind, Her shield the protection of wisdom and learning. Cosmologically, Athena is said to be the daughter of Zeus and Metis, Virtue and Wisdom. The Romans equated Athena with their native Goddess Minerva, and with the Celtic Goddess Brigid.
