Atabey was a Goddess of the pre-Columbian people of the Carrabean Islands of Antilles,and was recognized as a form of the earth goddess by them. The invading Spaniards thought the Antilles women were "Amazons" because they lived alone, fought in war and some of the women even spoke a different language from the men of the same tribe. |
