| Peninsular Malaysia is experiencing a dry spell. Peat and forest fires occur and water level in reservoirs goes down. Recently, the hot weather goes up to 36 degrees Celsius with 10 states and two federal territories experiencing peat fires and haze or smog. Some fires continue to burn. The water level of reservoirs goes down and the tap pressure is low. If the situation persists, the authority may have to ration water. Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the National Security Council would meet today to ascertain the situation and to find ways to handle the matter. to be dry. If this is true, then there will be more peat fires and haze. AIR INDEX Previously, the Meteorological Department announced the API every day. Then, because of various factors including the fear of scaring away tourists, the department has stopped doing so. We can obtain API from the department and send the information to our The main sources of air pollution are moving vehicles, factories and burning of wastes. Vehicles contribute 74% to the pollution and factories 22%. Now, peat fires aggravate it. We hope that the National Security Council will consider making API public every day so that the people know the truth.
