America and Britain attacked Iraq, 18-20 December 1998.
Statement by Dr Tan Seng Giaw, DAP National Vice-Chairman and MP for Kepong on the American and British attacks on Iraq. 18 December 1998

Since yesterday U.S.A. and Britain have been bombing Baghdad with hundreds of missiles. They aim to destroy Iraq's biological, chemical and nuclear weapons before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. What is called Operation Dessert Fox has been dubbed by Iraq as Operation Villains in the Arabian Dessert.

America and Britain have accused Iraq of going back on her words on weapon inspection. On the other hand, Iraq has blasted them of

lying.

In 1991, Iraq experienced American and British attacks after Sadam Hussein occupied Kuwait. Then, the Iraqi continue to suffer from economic sanction. Now, they are braving the rain of missiles.

All the problems between the United Nations Weapon Inspection Team and the Iraqi Government must be solved peacefully. Stop all missile attacks and consider suitable ways of ending the economic sanction as soon as possible.

Dr Tan Seng Giaw
