Education and training are important in the globalized world. What do we mean by globalized world? It is the new ways of doing things such as the economy without borders, the knowledge-economy and the use of modern science and technology. Not only do we apply information technology, but also use English as the medium.

In the Eighth Malaysia Plan, the allocation for education and training is RM 22.66 billion, preparing Malaysians for the k-economy. The Government is pouring in more money to develop the information and communications technology,

ICT. Over RM 25 billion have been spent on ICT in the last five years.

How do Malaysians fit into the k-economy? What type of modern education are we expecting in the future? Prominent speakers in the seminar include Lim Kit Siang, Professor Datin Rahimah Ahmad, Director of Principals' Institute, University of Malaya and Professor Datuk Ibrahim Bajunid, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University Tun Abdul Razak and Mr Lum, President of National Council of Senior Citizens and former MBS headmaster.
