| DAP Will Not Attend The Demonstration By The Defence Ministry To Enact The Scenes Of The Weapons Being Piled On The Four-Wheel Drive Vehicles, The Pajeros, In The Sauk Incident. Statement by Dr Tan Seng Giaw, DAP National Vice-Chairman and MP for Kepong on the matter after the DAP Central Executive Committee meeting on 15 August 2000. The Sauk incident has serious implications and consequences for Malaysia. We do not know what actually happened. That is why we have asked for a White Paper to be presented in Parliament for debate. The Government has agreed to do so. Let us know the truth so that all Malaysians will learn how to promote tolerance among all races and religions as well as to protect the security |
of all military installations. This type of tolerance is essential for the existence of Malaysia, without which we cannot survive for long. Now, The Attorney-General is charging 29 members of Al Ma'unah in court for treason. The court will consider all evidence including the scenes enacting the loading of weapons from the Territorial Army camp on the Pajeros. Similar demonstrations will be studied or decided in the law court-sub judice. Last night, the DAP Central Executive Committee decided against attending the demonstration because cases which are sub judice cannot be publicly discussed on the mass media such as television, radio or in the newspapers. 16 August 2000 Dr Tan Seng Giaw | ||||||
