Wai Xing Zhan Shi 2 main
So here's the rest. Since there wasn't much of Rykros to take pics of (I guess I could have taken a bit more) and I ended up taking a decent amount of cutscene pics I decided to put them here. Since I already make a video for each cutscene anything pertaining to that is a bit redundant. But why not do it anyway? There's also some space travel pics as well.
Oh, and pointless commentary! It's tradition now. :P
This is Rykros, right outside of the Silence Temple. It looks nice and the music is ok too. The crystals don't flicker like they do in the original. But I wasn't expecting them to. The little crystals look a little like popcorn. The map is fairly small and there are some places you can't get to as well as some inconvenient paths. But nothing you need to get to is blocked off in a frustrating way. The enemies are brutal though. And there are even enemies inside the Silence Temple. So it's best to use a vehicle to get around. The Anger Tower is not present in this game.
The Courage Tower boss room. Despite the boss sprite here being De-Vars it changes to Sa-Lews in battle. The reverse is also true in the Strength Tower. The dungeon itself is well detailed and is a good replica of the original. Although it is much smaller.
The Strength Tower. Just more of the same. It's just in magenta this time.
The Spaceport menu. The map is static so selecting different locations doesn't make them light up.
A trip to the Air Castle. This actually looks pretty good. The Landale looks much different in this game, having a sort of space freighter feel as opposed to a shuttle. One thing I'll give this is the perspective. The ship appears to be turned a bit, giving it a little more depth. Maybe it's the way the shadows are placed but the shop doesn't look totally flat.
A trip to Rykros. The other two planets look the same but in different colors.
This is from the cutscene where you meet the Principal. I'm not sure what is being conveyed with the Xanafalgue here. Maybe it's sending out a signal?
This is the only place in the game where Hahn appears. This is when the Principal is explaining what happened to the researchers sent to Birth Valley and the warning he was given by Zio. I don't know if that odd repetition of the panel with Alys and Hahn is a glitch or what. But it looks really weird.
Meeting Rune in Molcum. The town is always open. But no one will be there until you visit Birth Valley for the first time and trigger the cutscene with Professor Holt.
This is from the cutscene where you meet Grandfather Dorin. You can see Pana here but she will never appear in the house.
The cutscene with Professor Holt. Whn you cure him you do not see an additional scene with the rest of the town. The second Igglanova doesn't not appear at the entrance to Birth valley either. It's inside the Bioplant blocking the path leading to the next room.
Meeting with Rika in the Bioplant. There is no additional scene with Seed self destructing. You can re-access this dungeon again if you want to.
This scene occurs in Zio's Fort right after rescuining Demi. Zio's portrait has a graphical issue going on with his hair. Maybe they were trying to add shine. But the background is leaking through. It could be that issue again.
After Alys is hit with the Black Energy Wave the cutscene that follows includes Grandfather Dorin. This is because Hahn is not present in the game (save for the cutscene after the first Igglanova). The Machine Center is therefore located near Tonoe.
The funeral scene. I don't know what the golden symbol is. I was thinking that maybe it was the Psycho Wand because that particular cutscene is missing.
Meeting Wren on Zelan. He looks a bit depressed. Maybe tired? Do androids sleep? Do mechanoids dream of electric sheep? Anyway, there's nothing here but a series of cutscenes that end with crash landing on Dezolis. No battle will occur on the shuttle.
Meeting with Raja. This occurs directly after the scene with Wren. Raja's Temple is only an icon on the map and can't be entered. So you simply head to Ryuon directly from the world map after gaining control of your party again.
Even though the cutscene shoes that the abnormal blizzard is in full effect the world map doesn't reflect that and stays clear throughout the game. I wasn't really expecting weather changes in this game though. As you can see, the panel with the blizzard has repeating tiles that look weird. If you look closely it's kind of jarring. But it's not like you'd be seeing this scene for long anyway so it doesn't matter. Everyone looks kinda off in this scene though.
Meeting Kyra. The panel on the right looks pretty nice. Better than her actual in-game portrait. Oddly enough Kyra leaves after the Garuberk Tower as normal yet automatically rejoins at the Spaceport when you head back to Motavia to get the Aeroprism. I guess this is because Seth does not exist in this version so Kyra replaces him on the roster. Then why bother having her leave in the first place?
Rune and the Telepathy Ball. The Esper Mansion is a dungeon in this game.So you have to fight your war to the second floor in order for Rune to recover Lutz's memory. The sparkly effect on the Telepathy Ball is decent. But that wall behind Rune is a real eyesore. It looks more like glitchy noise than stone.
The Aeroprism scene in Soldiers' Temple. It's very sparkly. After this you can take the Landale to Rykros from the Spaceport as normal. It's just that Kyra will be along for the ride since Seth doesn't exist. Poor Seth.
