The 3rd Annual Stowe Weekend of Hope

This year I was able to attend the 3rd Annual Stowe Weekend of Hope in Stowe, Vermont. It was an awesome trip and I just wanted to share a bit of it with you. Below are just a few (and when I say few, I mean it, cause I took 100 pics!) pictures from my trip.

The Stowe Weekend of Hope is sponsored by the Stowe Vermont area (don't have details just yet) for cancer survivors. This is their third year doing it, and guess what....for the survivor and a guest it is ALL FREE!!! Amtrak sponsored free tickets for the ride up and back (which is 12 hours each way!!) and the hotels, conference and tours were free too. The only thing I had to pay for was my food while in Stowe. It was an awesome time, and I truly thank God for the opportunity to travel and get some R&R.

I spent most of my time visiting the town and relaxing. Of course picture taking was a grand portion of my time, but I did manange to make it to one workshop. (That was my goal).

I can't even describe how beautiful the Stowe area is and the people were so friendly. The whole town put in to let us have a great weekend.

If you would like to donate money towards the weekend, or find out more information, email me. Right now I don't have a direct address yet, but I will soon, so email me and I'll give you the current contact info. I have, or get the info for you.

Remember, this event is held every year for cancer survivors. Don't miss your opportunity to take part, if you are a survivor, or to help out, and their are many ways to help.

Anywho, on to the pictures....

Those of you who know me well, know that my favorite movie is the Sound of Music. Well guess what, the Trapp Lodge was right on the grounds of the Stowe Area. So I got to learn a little history about the real VonTrapps, and even sing a little as I went past the mountains. The hills are alive.......

Diane & I in front of the Trapp Lodge. Isn't the view beautiful?

As we tood a horse & wagon ride, we went through a pasture full of cows. They were enjoying the great weather too!

I can't even describe how pretty everything was. And the serenity was indescribable.

This is at the candlelight vigil. You can't really tell from the angle of my picture, but the church had the whole church decorated with lighted candles, and even set up a cancer ribbon with candles out in front of the church.

This is a shot of a few of us during the weekend.

This doubles as my favorite shot that I took, and my favorite spot in the whole town. This was taken right outside the house a group of us stayed in, called Kelly's Dream. I spent some time on my blanket right by the water enjoying the view. Priceless....

We got a chance to tour the Ben & Jerry's Factory in nearby Waterbury VT. It was cool and we got all the free samples of ice cream we wanted.

On Sunday we had closing ceremonies which was held outside the Trapp Lodge, in the meadow, surrounded on all sides by the gorgeous mountains. The flags of hope the survivors created during the weekend were displayed at the ceremony. It was very nice.

One of the last shots taken, this is the whole group on our last day of the weekend, preparing to leave for our trip home.
