Our Family Pets

AJ

A J was a hit-and-run that I rescued when we lived on Ft. Stewart. It hurt him a lot to eat solid food in the beginning (he cried piteously when he was eating) but he recovered fully. We had A J for a year when he was maliciously hit by a car and I found him on the side of the road. He was a real sweet cat.

Drake

Jon got Drake a couple of days after we buried A J. Drake is truly rambunctious!

Blossom

Blossom was our Feline in charge. She was hit by a car in front of our house in July 2009.

Lassie & Benji

Both dogs were male. We had Lassie for 12 years. I had to have him put to sleep March 2007.
The sad story of that day. Nobody came with us. Just Lassie and me. The vet assistant was SO sweet. She brought in a blanket, petted him, talked so nice to him and held his 'hand' while he drifted off to sleep. She did offer for me to leave before the event, but I didn't think it was right to let him go without family. I was very sad for me, sad for Benji, but so relieved at the same time that he didn't have to suffer any more.

Benji joined Lassie on July 7 2011. He was my best friend ever.

We also had a red-earred slider turtle named Speedy that my daughter took with her when she moved up north.

Then came Slate. Jimmy brought him home in December, 2006. He reclaimed his cat in July 2009. I miss that cat!!!

We (Jim & I) moved to KY in 2010 and April 2011 we bought 7 pullets (baby female chickens). They ended up all white, and I got 7 eggs a day from them!

"Momma Kitty" joined our menagerie in 2012.

Of course, Patches (aka Momma Kitty) brought along Tommy:

In turn, she had three beautiful baby girl kittens on my 49th birthday! September 2012: Virgo, Gizmo & Pleiades

We went to Amish country here in KY in November 2013 and acquired an Araucana rooster.
