Flyers "Boling" for Attendance

Well those Flyers are at it again...

It seems that in recent games the Philadelphia Flyers have experienced a sharp decrease in attendance. This sudden decline has left the organization bewildered, as somehow the Flyers have actually gotten off to a good start this season. Many outside sources have contributed this to fans just being simply tired of being associated with such a flagrantly horrid hockey club. Others claim it is simply the stench that exudes from the First Union center. Either way, the team needs to fill seats, so the heads of the Flyers organization decided upon a publicity stunt of epic proportions: invite Manute Bol to play for the Flyers. Some are calling it a crazy idea, but some marketing experts are saying that this stunt it quite a good plan. "Realistically, we can't keep winning like this. We're just not that good of a team," remarked Flyers head coach Ken Hitchcock. "We're lucky we've won this many games so early. Bringing Manute in will give fans something to look forward to, seeing as they won't be experiencing much good hockey." Though Manute had not had any prior experience on ice, seeing as he is from Africa, the former NBA superstar adapted well. He is quick on the ice due the fact that his 7'7" frame allows him to take such long strides. NHL analyist Brian Engbolm feels confident that Mr. Bol will pick up the game quick. "Ever after the first several practices he participated in you saw amazing improvement," said the broadcaster. "I'd go as far to say that he has already eclipsed the talent of LeClair and Recchi combined." Whether or not Manute will achieve the success he gained the NBA remains to be seen. Perhaps he will pave the way for other oversized NBA centers, such as Shawn Bradley or Rik Smits, to excel in the game of hockey.
