Pitt's killer showers

University of Pittsburgh Health officials are debating the safety of the showers in Tower B today after the discovery of skeletal remains in a shower stall on the tenth floor. The remains are believed to be those of Michael C. Buythe of Lancaster, PA who was a resident on the 10th floor of Tower B. Authorities were called to the scene after the skeleton was found around 6:30 A.M. Monday morning.

Medical experts were baffled at first. "I've never seen anything like this," claimed Dr. Mark L. Zeidel, chairman of the University's Medicine Department. "Every last bit of flesh was burnt right off of his body."

It was later revealed that Buythe was actually scalded to death by the water from the shower head. It seems that while showering, someone had flushed the toilet in the same bathroom as him, causing a stream of hot water to shoot out of the showerhead from which the victim was bathing. This unknown phenomenon seems to be common in the Tower, but most students say they are able to move out of the way before the water reaches fatal temptatures.

"Yeah, it's pretty common," claimed one student. "It's almost as annoying as the damn automatic toilets, I never thought it would kill anyone though." The student, an unidentified resident of the Tower, seemed unremorseful though, describing the victim as "way too 1003 for my liking."

What is further surprising is that the victim was up at 6:30 AM, no easy feat for a college student. Investigators are warning students to avoid the showers until the problem can be found and corrected, which will make Tower B smellier and more uncomfortable than usual, except the 9th floor, which will be affected little by the bathing restriction. Pitt police warn that the flusher is still on the loose and could strike at any time. They also ask that if you, or anyone you know, has information on this "Mad Flusher" to contact Robert Stack at Unsolved Mysteries as soon as possible. It's a toll free number.
