of Victory

Victor'ous lies the cross who knows the cost
Of losing much and winning glor'ously.
It seeks to gain what must not become lost
And loses only what can merely be
For sake of what exists. For if all time,
All dust, all glory divine birth from God,
And God is love, then does not Earth now chime,
Now rhyme and climb by love alone? Its nod
To go ahead as wed gives faith comprised
Of knowledge knowing that because God first
Loved us, the freedom's ours to realize
That love is faint to fear and free to burst.
It is better to have answered the call,
And lost, than to have never loved at all.
