Oral Roberts shares revelation
By Beth Pitts

Chancellor Oral Roberts entered the Baby Mabee, which was filled to capacity. He came to share the fifth major revelation of his lifetime with graduate and undergraduate theology students, faculty and staff, on Nov. 1.

While Roberts was in his home in Newport Beach, Calif., on July 4, God revealed the value of praying in other tongues and also praying to interpret, to "close the gap between the spirit and the mind." The Lord showed him that when the church was birthed at Pentecost, the Lord gave His people the "new communication system" of a prayer language.

"There are times when He comes to me in a personal, unique visitation, and I can hear every word and then talk back to Him and ask Him what it meant," Roberts explained. This happened for the first time in 1947, when he heard the Lord tell him not to be like other men. "Don't be like other preachers," God said. "Be like Jesus. You heal the people, like He did." Shortly thereafter, Roberts began his healing crusades nationwide.

Bible pages rustled in the audience as Roberts shared from the Gospel of John. He spoke about how God had shown him a vision of the crucifixion, the burial of Jesus and the gathering of disciples in one accord at Pentecost, in Acts 2.

The sharing of this most recent revelation marked the sixth time the Chancellor has preached this message since he received it this summer. President Richard Roberts asked his father to give this sermon so that it could be videotaped for archives. He also plans to air a prime time TV special on this subject.

"This is a day that we will never forget. We must not forget it," President Roberts said.
