Are you a closet VeggieTales fan or are you willing to admit you're
a college student who likes to talk to tomatoes? Either way, you'll
enjoy the first movie release from Big Idea Productions, "Jonah."
The full-length movie will be in theaters Oct. 4. Whether you take
your little sister with you and tell people that's the only reason
you're going, or you're bold enough to take some friends, support
Big Idea's Christian influence in the entertainment industry by
making plans to see "Jonah" on opening weekend.
ORU will be hosting the Southwest Conference on Christianity and
Literature Oct. 3 to 5 at the Hilton. Dr. Kay Meyers and Dr. Mark
Hall are the chairs arranging the conference. There will be 15 sessions
scheduled over two days including sessions such as Christian Patterns
in Contemporary Realism, Fantasy and Science Fiction; The Poetry
of MacDonald, Wilbur, Cairns: Form and Meaning; and The Christian
Tradition in Academics and Popular Culture.
Contemporary poet Li-Young Lee will be a special guest at the conference.
He will be the plenary speaker and will present a reading of his
poetry. There will be a dinner with Dr. Lee at the CityPlex Towers
on Friday evening, Oct. 4. The conference is free for ORU students
to attend. For more information, visit www.oru.edu.
