Blair promises to release evidence indicting Iraq
By Sheldon Yoder

In an effort to silence critics and garner support for a regime change, British Prime Minister Tony Blair promised to publish a dossier of evidence sometime in September demonstrating Iraq's alleged development of weapons of mass destruction.

International skepticism has been on the rise in the last month about the justifiability of an armed attack against Baghdad. The U.S. is, to date, the most fervent proponent of a forced regime change in Iraq. The only real support the U.S. has received comes from Blair, but even then his government is undetermined as to what course to pursue.

There have been hints of a split in the U.S. administration, with Colin Powell advocating a more moderate approach, while Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney proposing an immediate, pre-emptive strike.

The release of the evidence against Iraq will occur over the next few weeks. Rumsfeld said President Bush may also make public evidence about Iraq's illegal weapons.
