Lindsay Roberts co-teaching Charismatic Life
By Sheldon Yoder

For years, she has consistently been the most-requested chapel speaker. She has loved this University and each of its students with tender nurturing and fierce loyalty.

This year, ORU's First Lady, Lindsay Roberts, felt called by God to have an even deeper and more frequent impact on the lives of her students. As a result, Roberts is now teaching the Tuesday lecture session of Charismatic Life and the Healing Ministry, where she focuses on whole-person healing.

Although the class has over 500 students, the room has a cozy, intimate feeling. Roberts steps to the front, picks up a microphone and begins to share from her heart-whether talking about a scripture that has impacted her walk with God, or telling it like it is regarding how people too often focus on the wrong thing (like a person's hairstyle) rather than keeping the focus on developing a stronger relationship with God.

In one class session, she asked for students to stand if they wanted to participate in her offering. Several stood, and some even began to pull out their wallets, but Roberts stopped them and explained that she actually wanted to give them an offering (of candy), and that an offering is an opportunity to receive rather than to give. It was an example of her desire that through this class, students will rethink their perceptions of who God is and the intimate, true-love bond He wants to have with us.

In essence, this class is her offering of love to both God and the students of Oral Roberts University.
