Miracles and the Supernatural

Hundreds of years after, no prophet [had] risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt - to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel" (Deut. 34:10-12 NIV). Moses gave Israel the signs to look for in that coming figure which his tradition had begun to develop, a prophet like [him] from among their brothers… [with God's] word in his mouth, [to] tell them everything [God] commanded him… (Deut. 18: 18, 19). But neither Joshua nor the prophets of later centuries carried such signs (Deut. 34:10-12).. The statement "since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses," was finally replaced with a greater one.

It all began when a demon-possessed man who could not even speak was brought to a young Jewish man whose fame had begun to spread across the entire nation. He stood on the mountain side and, like Moses, began to give commandments to the people "who were so amazed that they asked each other, 'what is this? A new teaching, and with authority! He taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law (Matt. 5; Mr. 1: 21, 27).

Large crowds began to follow him, listening to his words and seeing his deeds of power. He healed the sick with miraculous signs, creating wonders as he calmed the storm and even walked on water (Deut. 18:18,19; Matt. 4:23-25; 8:1-17; 5; 8: 23-27; Mr.6: 45-51). His face-to-face knowledge of God made him greater than Moses and the prophets, for His clothes became dazzling white…and there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus…and a voice came from the cloud: this is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him" (Mr. 9:2-7).

No man since has risen in the world like Jesus, for even the very descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, declared, "Nothing like this has ever been seen…" (Deut. 18:18,19; Matt. 9:33). Jesus, the prophet promised to Israel, the Son of God whose ministry of signs, wonders, power and miraculous deeds invaded Israel then, is the same today. He died on the cross and rose from the dead, and because he was resurrected that which he performed yesterday he performs now.

He is the man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, because God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and power to do good and heal all who are oppressed by the devil. People believe in his name because of the miracles he performs, miracles yesterday, today, and forever (Acts 2:22; 10:38; Jh. 2:23). Thus, that is the answer: the supernatural power of Jesus is alive today, and is alive at ORU.

I will never forget a dream I had in which I saw a huge construction activity in ORU grounds. In this dream I saw two cords descending from heaven, holding a sign with the ORU "Educating the Whole Man" emblem. Once the sign was planted in the ground, a voice said, "I am establishing ORU." To my right there was a beautiful garden with flowers of all colors, and a river running through it. To my left I saw what I believed to be angels doing grounds work in ORU maintenance uniforms. They were taking care of the green areas while ORU employees worked together on administrative duties just across from them. Then I saw the President of the University, his right hand outstretched, speaking about the year of a great move of God's power and healing upon earth.

I know that the next seven years will be years of great moves of God as He takes ORU into an even greater witness of the healing power of Jesus. ORU students are in the right place. The faculty continue teaching how to succeed. Staff members working for God unite, expecting great things from heaven. Partners sow seeds to help ORU go into all the world, and will see God's rain of abundance. Pray, give, believe and experience the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. America and the world are waiting.
