Barnes earns third Mid-Con P.O.W. award
By Cory Rogers

Tulsa, Okla. -Oral Roberts' Markius Barnes earned his third Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week award this season after helping his team to a win over league-leading Valparaiso in the final home game of his career.

Barnes capped his home career at Oral Roberts with a spectacular game and a game-winning shot. After scoring 14 points and dishing out six assists in an 84-67 win over Western Illinois, Barnes was the difference in the Golden Eagles' 77-74 win over league-leading Valparaiso. He scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 5-of-8 accuracy from three-point range. Barnes' most important shot came at the end of the game, when he spotted up and drained a game-winning three-pointer with five seconds left. He added seven assists and three steals in his final appearance in the Mabee Center.

For the week, Barnes averaged 20.5 points and 6.5 assists per game. He has won the weekly honor twice in the past three weeks and is the only player in the conference to win the honor more than twice this season.

ORU (16-13, 10-4) closed out its regular season with a conference win at Chicago State (94-64) and a loss to Southern Utah (82-75). The Golden Eagles' victory over Chicago State clinched a No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
