Creative aerobics can prove to be a rewarding method of acquiring Aerobics Points. Homecoming has since passed, and different forms of creative aerobics have also left with the festivities. During such a joyous occasion like Homecoming, it's easy to forget the equally joyous process of meeting aerobic points quotas. No, your HPE instructors are not like police meeting ticket quotas, but they desire that you stay fit and healthy.

Now how could one find time to exercise during such an eventful week? Creative aerobics could have saved your grade. For all of you that participated last week, you may have actually earned aerobics points! What about the game? If you bought a pair of large foam hands and waved them during the game, some serious aerobic conditioning resulted. What about the hot-dog jog? If you grabbed two hot dogs (and buns) in each hand and jogged around the upper level in the Mabee Center, then you are a hard core exerciser.

According to Charles M. Schultz, the creator of the cartoon Peanuts, "Jogging is very beneficial…." Saturday night's hot dog jog was even more beneficial than jogging alone. The hot dogs simulated weights, and you could have eaten them when you passed the 15-minute mark. However, eating the hot dogs could have canceled out the aerobics points. Even better, if you didn't eat them, you can reuse the hot dogs at the next game.

While you're at the next game, get a group of friends together at the game. Play follow the leader while walking between every row of chairs in the Mabee Center. Be creative. For example, try singing songs from "The Sound of Music," as you step over people's feet. Be prepared to run away, in case you happen to upset some less athletic fans. If (when) this happens, think of it as a good thing, because you'll get a workout using your walking and running muscles. Remember to keep your heart rate in your 60-90% percent training zone, or what we HPE gurus like to call "the pocket," for over 15 minutes. Until we meet again, see you at the next game.
