Relief Work
By Matthew Miller
Come,
wash away their tears with me,
As moved without as wrecked we be,
And come, display Compassion's touch
To those who've loved and lost so much.
The gutter's dirge refrains despair,
And we can find them restless there,
Awash for lack of hope and grace
And Jesus in a caring face.
It's time we disembody grief
And point them to the true Relief
Displayed for real in Christ, the Lord,
Alive in someone's plowshare-sword.
