Newest iMac
unveiled
By Sheldon Yoder
Steve
Jobs, CEO of Apple, recently unveiled the company's newest iMac.
The computer stands in stark contrast to the previous candy-colored
version. With a half-melon shaped base and jointed chrome neck connecting
the base to a flat screen, it closely resembles Luxo, Jr., the gushy
computer-animated lamp that starred in a short film by Pixar, also
owned by Jobs.
Jobs hopes that the newest iMac will stimulate sales for Apple.
Apple sales in the U.S., while better than in the early 90s, are
still paltry compared to PC sales. Currently, Apple accounts for
4.5 percent of new computers sold in the U.S. and only 2.8 percent
of new computers sold worldwide.
The newest iMac is slated to be an all-in-one hub for many different
kinds of media. It features a DVD burner as well as state of the
art photo, music and movie software and tools. Jobs believes that
innovation is the key to drawing Apple out of sales woes, and he
is endeavoring to do this..
