Ben "Fergie" Ferguson (Tuesday July 13)

(from Aley's LJ) Ben's this like, 23 year old guy who looks as though he's about 37... He needs a makeover, and more than anything, he so needs to get laid. My God, I hate to say it, but this man needs some hard core lovin... He had some interesting things to say and for the most part I agreed with him, except for one major thing. He was all like yay I'm single I can be selfish and an asshole and not worry about anyone else. He also totally projected the idea that anyone committed to someone else can't possibly be reaching their full potential. I totally disagree. It's definitely possible to find someone that you can be with and together both of you can reach all the goals and achievements that you want. Ben kinda pissed me off with that comment.

Now my own comments...Fergie was basicly an uber-conservative "voice of the youth" that subliminally wanted us to kill the ones we love in order to be successful.

Alphonso Jackson, secretary of housing and urban development (Wednesday July 14)

DaMusicWiz [1:09 PM]: he told us 4 things...1) life story
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: 2) stay in school, education is cool
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: 3) you are the future
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: 4) go bush
ReasonOverRhyme [1:10 PM]: heh
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: during questioning:
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: someone asks him what leadership qualities he possesses that made bush pick him for the cabinet
DaMusicWiz [1:10 PM]: response:
DaMusicWiz [1:11 PM]: well, i don't know what qualities made the president choose me, but when we were younger i lived about 6 houses away from him
ReasonOverRhyme [1:11 PM]: hahahaha
DaMusicWiz [1:12 PM]: in addition he claimed to be able to run "4 miles in 12 minutes" during the same answer
ReasonOverRhyme [1:13 PM]: aka, four 3-minute miles
ReasonOverRhyme [1:13 PM]: I love our government
ReasonOverRhyme [1:13 PM]: makes me feel so much better about myself
DaMusicWiz [1:13 PM]: yes, even though we get that he ment each mile in 12 minutes...or at least hope he meant that

Carolyn McCarthy, congressperson from Long Island (Thursday July 15)

She was pretty cool. she was actually a very respectable person (first one we've had) and talked bout being a woman and a male-dominated field. granted that im not exactly a feminist, but it was interesting nonetheless. Also, she's one of few honest people who follows her own beliefs over her party at times.

Press Panel (Friday July 16)

I can't remember any names except Helen Thomas, an uber-liberal editorialist who opened up journalism for women. She kinda looked like the witch from Snow White, but it was all good. I also remember a black woman who was really cool since she talked about a catfight she was in, some random guy who i don't remember, and another woman who's going to Iraq who seems really cool, but REALLY liked hearing herself talk.

Brian Alexander (Friday July 16)

this guy was really well prepared, but the time of day was not working for him. It was after lunch so no one was willing to listen to him...especially since i really dont think anyone there was overly concerned with Cuba. He seemed to know what he was talkin bout and if it were the morning things mightve worked better for him, but the majority of us fell asleep i think.

Deborah Fleishaker and Todd Gaziano (Monday July 19)

These two had a debate about capital punishment. Debbie was against, Todd for. Todd gave a lot of info, but immediately after Fleishaker said something to nullify what was just said and he had no comeback for her so she seemed to win the debate easily. she was kinda bitchy with it, but hey, i'd debate the same way so i wont complain.

Dr. Charles Haynes (Tuesday July 20)

He incited a discssion bout religious freedom in America...was pretty interesting and exactly what i knew would happen. some people for under god in the pledge, others against, etc... while it was a good discussion it was obvious we werent going to make any breakthroughs unless saying that the supreme court should be handling the issue is news to anyone....
