Below is what I’ve deemed the pertinent excerpts from the forging demonstration so graciously provide by his Lordship, Cryheart. In the event that I may have omitted something crucial, I have the slightly unadulterated version available… accurate barring the brief struggle I lost to Charl’s agitations. Luckily, the clouds passed quickly and I caught everything vital to the session pertaining to the process and plans of forging and crafting.

[Dwarven
Chambers, Workshop]
You notice a scrap bin, a white iron door, a red
iron door, a black iron door, a grey iron door and a large sign.
>Cryheart says,
"first is crafting of your forging hammer and crafting of your hilts,
shafts or handles"
>Cryheart removes an
elegant iron forging-hammer from in his black leather cloak.
>Cryheart says,
"very important..you will need forging hammer first"
>Cryheart taps a sturdy
workbench.
>Cryheart says,
"look on the workbench"
>On
the sturdy workbench you see a gold broadsword blade-glyph, a gold broadsword
hilt-glyph, a gold dagger hilt-glyph, a gold dagger blade-glyph, a gold
forging-hammer handle-glyph, a gold forging-hammer head-glyph, a gold mace
handle-glyph, a gold mace head-glyph, a gold flail head-glyph, a gold flail
handle-glyph, a gold flamberge hilt-glyph, a gold flamberge blade-glyph, a gold
awl-pike head-glyph and a gold awl-pike shaft-glyph.
>Cryheart says,
"each glyph you hae will allow you to make a certain weapon type"
>Cryheart says,
"they will be sold at merchants..or critter found"
>Cryheart says,
"but..there will be different colored glyphs..each representing certain
number of usses"
>Cryheart says, "I
am not sure which color represents what at this point..only gold is
unlimited"

>Cryheart says,
"gold glyphs..you can imagine will most likely be priceless"
>Cryheart says,
"other colors vary"
>Cryheart says, "all
forges made...will hae gold glyphs available for the forging hammers"
>Cryheart says, "so
there will be unlimited uses to make forging hammers"
>Cryheart says,
"aye..my advice...use iron slabs"
>Cryheart says,
"make the best forging hammer you can make"
>Cryheart says, "use
iron to practice your crafting skill"
>Cryheart says,
"cause iron is more abundant and cheaper"
>Cryheart says,
"make the best forging hammer you can make first"
>Cryheart says,
"before you forge the weapons"
>Cryheart removes a heavy
slab of iron from in his black leather cloak.
>Cryheart says,
"everytime you craft or forge..you use up the material"
>Cryheart says,
"so..aye..the slabs will hae limited uses"
>Cryheart says,
"crafting....."
>Cryheart says,
"first you put the material in your left hand"
>Cryheart says, "you
can make many daggers...but only one broadsword out of one slab"
>Cryheart says,
"aye..practice on daggers first"
>Cryheart says,
"when ye get time to forging"
Cryheart says, "with
material in left hand...you stare at glyph you want to form"
>Cryheart says,
"example...dagger hilt...broadsword hilt"
>Cryheart says,
"stare dagger hilt"
>Cryheart says,
"now..I am going to show ye how to make a forging hammer "
>Cryheart waves a
crafter's apron around.
>Cryheart says, "you
can buy aprons at shops"
>Cryheart works his way
into a crafter's apron.
>Cryheart says, "the
apron will contain your learning.."
>Cryheart says, "so
only one apron"
>Cryheart says,
"takes 30 seconds to scribe a pattern in ore"
>Cryheart says, "ok..after
ye scribe a pattern on ore..by staring at part"
>Cryheart says, "you
hae to grind the material"
>Cryheart taps a large
grinder.
>Cryheart says,
"turn grinder"
>
Cryheart
gives the grinding wheel a powerful shove to get it spinning, then moves nimbly
to take his seat at the wheel.
>He
sets his right foot against the already moving rocker pedal and begins pumping
to set the wheel spinning more quickly.
Settling
the iron slab in his left hand, he presses it against the spinning stone. Bits of iron leap into the air as the rough
stone eats away at it.
>Orange
sparks leap from the spinning wheel as Cryheart grinds away at his iron slab.
>Cryheart stands up and turns the iron hammer-handle in his hands. He nods, satisfied with the results of his work.
>Cryheart says,
"takes 105 seconds to grind"
>Daeguard asks, "how
does our skill grow?"
>Cryheart says, "by
practicing"
>Cryheart says,
"depends on two rolls"
>Cryheart says, "for
failure or success"
>Cryheart says, "and
how many ranks ye hae"
>Cryheart says, "in
crafting or forging"
>Cryheart says,
"mostly by the number of successful attempts you make"
>Cryheart says, "but
we shall see"
>Cryheart says, "if
ye learn..yu will get the following message..."
>Cryheart says,
"aha, you learned something that time"
>Cryheart waves a rough
iron hammer-handle around.
>Cryheart taps a
polisher.
>Cryheart says,
"lean polisher"
>Cryheart
gives the polishing wheel a shove to set it spinning, then leans against the
armrest.
>He
sets his right foot against the already moving rocker pedal and begins pumping
to set the wheel spinning more quickly.
>Settling
the iron hammer-handle in his left hand, he presses it against the spinning
wheel, and a low whine fills the air.
>Cryheart says, "75 seconds to polish"
>The
hum of the spinning wheel and the scent of abrasive compound fills the air as
Cryheart refines the shape of his iron hammer-handle.
>Leaning close over his work, Cryheart presses the hammer-handle against the wheel, reducing areas of roughness to a polished sheen.
>Cryheart
pauses to press a tub of diamond dust paste against the hard felt wheel,
loading it again with abrasive. Then he
resumes his polishing.
>Cryheart says,
"everyone will be able to forge..but will be a lengthy one to master just
even one weapon skill"
>Tarkisis asks,
"each weapon type will offer a different mastery?"
>Cryheart nods to
Tarkisis.
>Cryheart says,
"blunts..one handers..two handers..brawling..."
>Cryheart put a finished
iron hammer-handle in his black leather cloak.
>Cryheart says, "ok..now
going to stare head"
>A glowing, silver pattern traces slowly onto Cryheart's iron slab as he stares intently at a glyph.
>Cryheart says, "for
forging hammer"
>Cryheart says,
"first stare handle..then stare head..separate parts"
>Cryheart says, "same
process for two separate parts"
>

to take his seat at the wheel.

sets his right foot against the already moving rocker pedal and begins pumping

>Orange
sparks leap from the spinning wheel as Cryheart grinds away at his iron slab.
>Cryheart says, "once you learn the process..people can stagger what place they work at..make it go faster"
>Cryheart
seems to be doing okay, but he grinds for a while and the iron slab he's
holding still looks like a slab.
Cryheart
stops grinding, inspects his iron slab closely, and gets a concerned look on
his face.
Cryheart gets to his feet, looking disappointed.
>Cryheart chuckles.
>Cryheart says,
"failure"
>Cryheart says,
"aye..had to rescribe the pattern"
>

stands up and turns the iron hammer-head in his hands. He nods, satisfied with the results of his
work.
>Cryheart says,
"now...strategy"
>Cryheart says,
"when making weapons...always make the hilts first"
>Cryheart says,
"reason...let material to waste when making hilts"
>Cryheart says,
"lest"
>Cryheart says,
"save most material for making the blades and such"
>Cryheart says,
"most economical that way"
>Cryheart says,
"ok...slab weighed 25 pounds at first....now it weighs 17 pounds"
Cryheart removes a finished
iron hammer-handle from in his black leather cloak.
>Cryheart says,
"after scribing...grinding...and polishing.."
>Cryheart taps a black
iron vise.
>Cryheart says, "turn vise"
>Cryheart
sets his hammer-head in the vise and turns the handle until the part is held
snuggly in the vise's grip.
>Frowning in concentration, Cryheart sets to work assembling his iron hammer-head and iron hammer-handle into a well-crafted whole.
>Cryheart says, "65
seconds to assemble"
>Cryheart
picks up a file and files the hammer-head where the hammer-handle will fit,
then tries fitting them together again.
>Cryheart pauses to examine both pieces closely and
then tries putting them together more forcefully.
>Cryheart
seems to be doing OK, but you don't think it should take this long to put a
hammer-head and a hammer-handle together.
Cryheart
stops working, inspects the two parts closely, and gets a concerned look on his
face.
>Cryheart says,
"now...."
>Cryheart says,
"when you get better at crafting or forging...."
>Cryheart says,
"there will be times...you will find that you made the very best you could
make..save that part or piece"
>Cryheart says,
"cause..if you make the very best handle..but just satisfied with the
hammer head...you will not make the best hammer possible"
>Cryheart says,
"remember that"
>Cryheart sets his hammer-head in the vise and turns the handle until the part is held snuggly in the vise's grip.
>Frowning
in concentration, Cryheart sets to work assembling his iron hammer-head and
iron hammer-handle into a well-crafted whole.

>Cryheart steps back and turns a in his hands. Nodding, he seems satisfied with the results of his work.
>Cryheart waves a fine
iron forging-hammer around.
>Cryheart says, "ta
da"
>Tarkisis asks, "Can
you use different material for the head and handle?"
>Cryheart says, "not
yet"
>Cryheart says,
"same at this point of time I believe"
>Tarkisis frowns.
>You grin at Tarkisis.
>Cryheart says,
"ok..now after ye practice many, many, many times..and make the best
forging hammer you can...."
>Cryheart says, "you
should go to forging"
>Cryheart says,
"different process"
>Cryheart says, "and
similar"
>Cryheart says,
"with material in left hand...and your forging hammer in right"
>Cryheart says, "you
form the pattern...say...stare broadsword blade"
>Cryheart says, "as
example"
>Cryheart says, "or
stare awl shaft"
>Cryheart says,
"repeat the scribing process you did with forging hammers"
>Cryheart says,
"ie..stare broadsword blade"
>Cryheart says,
"ok..after scribing the pattern"
>Daeguard asks, "so
makin hammers doesnt take forgin?"
>Cryheart says,
"hilt is crafting..aye"
>Cryheart nods to
Daeguard.
>Cryheart says,
"aye..hammers is all crafting"
>Cryheart says,
"weapons involve both crafting of hilts..and forging of blades"
>Cryheart says,
"after ye scribe the pattern"
>Cryheart says, "to
forge"
>Cryheart's
group went through a red iron door.
[Dwarven
Chambers, Forge]
You
notice a red iron door.
>Cryheart says,
"now..if they tongs were here"
>Cryheart says, "all
ye hae to do..."
>Cryheart says, "get
tongs"
>Cryheart says,
"will take 3 minutes for forging"
>Cryheart says,
"now..not sure if all forges will work as this one..but sometimes..you wil
need to put fresh water in the trough"
>Cryheart taps a cork
plug.
>Cryheart says,
"pull the plug..let water drain...return the plug"
>Cryheart taps a mithril
bucket.
>Cryheart says, "get
bucket"
>Cryheart says, "to
refill the trough"
>Cryheart says, "now
if you are successful...you will get the hssssssssss sound "
>Cryheart says, "you
will nae learn all the time even if successful"
>Cryheart taps a scorched
white crucible.
>Cryheart taps a dark
green crucible.
>Cryheart taps a dull red
crucible.
>Cryheart says,
"different metals to work with"
>In
the white crucible you see some molten ora.
>In
the red crucible you see some molten glaes.
>In the green crucible you see some molten imflass.
>Cryheart says,
"ok..if you make the blade without shattering it..."
>Cryheart says, "we
go back out "
>Cryheart's
group went through a red iron door.
>Cryheart says,
"just like grinding..you will need to polish the blade"
>Cryheart says,
"after forging it"
>Cryheart says,
"after ye hae crafted the weapon hilt...and forged the blade..and polished
both parts...you assemble them in the vise"
>Cryheart says, "one
in each hand"
>Cryheart says,
"turn vise"
>Cryheart grins.
>Cryheart says, "and
if ye successful..you hae a weapon"
>Oary asks, "so get
tongs is the only forgeing process?"
>Cryheart nods to Oary.
>Cryheart says,
"ok..let me give you an idea of the quality of your products"
>Cryheart says, "one
way to know ye learning...is by the product you make"
>Cryheart says,
"quality goes from flimsy, crude, simple, plain, nice, fine....."
>Cryheart says, "for
basic"
>Cryheart says,
"next upper three levels are..."
>Cryheart says,
"well-made or elegant, superior or hefty..and then perfect quality"
>Cryheart says, "and
fine dagger was 99/196"
>Cryheart says, "the
better quality of product...the stronger it will be"
>Cryheart says, "in
time maybe armor..but not now"
>Cryheart says, "99
tis the strength of the items...the second number is the durability"
>Paladyr asks, "I'm
assuming aprons can only be used by the first person to wear it?"
>Cryheart nods to
Paladyr.
>Cryheart says,
"aye..I think the aprons will be yours only"
>Paladyr nods.
>Cryheart works his way
out of a crafter's apron.
>Saberwolv asks, "so
cryheart....what are the advantages of forging?"
>Cryheart says, "to
make cheap weapons that will break"
>Cryheart says,
"breakage is coming fast"
>Cryheart says, "so
be prepared"
>Cryheart says,
"Zulgoth has an ore shop...closed now"
>Cryheart says,
"will open when forging is implemented I imagine"
