2003 Completed Knitting Projects2003 is the year of the goat/sheep on the Chinese calendar, so all signs point to a prolific knitting year. My New Year's resolution is to complete at least one of the 22 WIPs on my list before starting anything "New". Lets see how I do!

Charlie's Slotted Mittens
Completed January 7, 2003. To match the scarf and hat that I made him last year, my husband, Charlie requested mittens with slots so that he could take his fingers out to pick things up without taking the mittens off. I made them of the same virgin wool used for the hat and scarf, using 2 strands. The pattern was my own adapted from about 3 different mitten patterns to get the shape and look that I wanted. He likes them. I took another pic of the slotted palms, but the detail didn't show. This one is better because it shows his cute face! And it is the first one off the UFO list. |
Teddy's Blankie
Completed January 8, 2003. Teddy has been a part of our family for many, many years. He has been Stacey's constant companion all her life and was Sarah's before that. Several years ago, Stacey asked me to make Teddy a blanket, just for him, with a hood to keep his head warm. While cleaning out the attic and cataloging the UFO's (my New Year's Resolution) I found the pieces that I had completed so many years ago but never put together. Stacey is 16 now, but Teddy still sits on her bed and now he has a warm blankie with a hood. Each piece is a granny square crocheted with acrylic yarn, finished off with a scalloped edging. |
The 5 Hour Baby Sweater Set
Completed January 9, 2003. This is another project off of the infamous UFO list. I have made this pattern several times for friends and this one was supposed to be for my secretary Angie's grandson, but once I got it knitted, I hated the look of the variegated acrylic yarn and set it aside. I finally got it finished and Sarah doesn't like it either, so it will be donated to Charity with the guild mittens and hats. |
Lace Study Dishcloth
Completed February 28, 2003. This dishcloth was one of the "homework" assignments for the lace study group. It is made from Sugar and Cream on size 4 needles. A nice tight gauge is great for a dishcloth, but doesn't show off the lace pattern. For more on the study group, click here . |
Lace Study Bookmarks
Completed April 7, 2003. These bookmarks were homework for the Springfield Flock'sLace Study Group that I led. The first (not yet pictured) is made from size 8 Pearl Cotton and the second from size 10 crochet cotton, and both are from free patterns gathered from the internet. |
Christmas Stockings
Completed December 4, 2003. I decided that for Justin's first Christmas we all needed new stockings. These were made from Cascade 220 from a pattern by...I forget, I'll put it in later. It didn't take me too long to make these - I was a fairly good production knitter on this project. |
