How to win the lost to Christ

A B C’s of Salvation
Showing the Lost how to be saved

As Christians, we are kept here on earth to win others to Christ. If we were here just to sit down and do nothing after we get saved the Lord would just take us on then. But God keeps us here on earth to serve him and ultimately win souls to Christ and further his kingdom.
When you try to lead someone to the Lord you can get nervous, but remember that God is with you while you tell this person about the Christ who died for them.

The first step to accepting Christ is A…..“Admitting you are a sinner”

The first verse starts out at Romans 3:10:
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”

This verse tells us that no one on this entire earth is righteous. There is no one that can say I’m perfect in every way. I’ve never done anything wrong. I’m a righteous person. No one in there own flesh is righteous.

Romans 3:23 says:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Because no one is righteous, we sin everyday. We do things wrong. That’s what sin is wrong. When we do wrong we sin. Because man can sin and has a sin nature then we all have sinned at some point in our lives. Ask that person if they have ever told a lie? Stole anything? Basically go through the ten commandments (the popular commandments which were given to us to reveal our sin to us) and ask them if they have ever done any of those things. If they say “yes” to one thing ask them then if that is a sin. Then say “ok looking at that are you a sinner?” The answer is yes, but you are trying to get them to see themselves as a sinner.

Romans 5:12,
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered in to the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned”

This is talking about Adam and the fact that he sinned. And because he sinned death and sin entered into this world. God had to pass death into this world because of one man’s sin. Thus we all are born sinners and will die sinners unless we received Christ as our personal Saviour.

Romans 6:23,
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Ok so now that they see themselves as sinners and see where sin and death entered into this world, we can show them the wages of sin and the provision made by God so they wouldn’t have to take those wages upon themselves. Explain to the person that because we are sinners we have a penalty or consequences of our sin; death. But also explain to them that God sent his Son to die on the cross for our sins and bore our sins upon the cross so that we could have the gift of eternal life. Christ took our penalty on the cross so that we would not have to. God gave us a gift to eternal life and all we have to do is except it.

Hebrews 9:27,
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.”

Everyone will die. No one just keeps living on and on. Eventually you will die. We do not know when we will die. That’s why we have to be ready to meet God. If we die without Christ as our Saviour then we will have to stand before God as a sinner and reap his judgment on our heads. This judgement is hell and the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:15,
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

This goes along with the before verse. This proves to the person you are talking to that the Bible tells us that all those who do not accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour will be cast into the lake of fire.

The second step in accepting Christ as Savour is B-- “Believing the Christ died for our sins and rose again”

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Most of us know this verse by heart, but when you are leading someone to Christ you need to show them with your Bible the verse so read it to them from the Bible. God loved all of us so much that he did not want to see everyone in the world die and go to hell. So what did he do? He made a provision for us. He sent his only Son to die on the cross so that we might be able to spend eternity with him in heaven and not in the lake of fire. This verse says whosoever, this means anyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ and his death on the cross for our sins, will not perish but have everlasting life. We have to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again the third day as the second step to salvation.

Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

God loved us so much that he sent Christ to die for our sins. This goes along with John 3:16. You can show someone this verse right after John 3:16 and then tell them about Christ dying on the cross.

I Corinthians 15:3,4
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

Explain to the lost person that Christ did die but unlike the other “gods” today that people put their trust in HE AROSE the third day. Jesus is alive and because he is alive he is able to keep them from going to hell. He intercedes for us where no one else (even the priest) can. Explain to them that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day just for them. Make it a personal thing to them. Help them to understand that if they were the only ones lost (which they aren’t and weren’t) that Christ still would have come to die for them and would still have rose again just for them.

Ephesians 2:8-9
“For by grace are ye saved thorugh faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Galatians 2:16
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Titus 3:5
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

These verses show us that it is not by our own strength and works that we do that we are saved. It is not by being baptized because that is a work….it is not by doing good deeds for the church and poor…because that is a work. It is mearly by trusting Jesus Christ as their Saviour and HIS work at Calvary. If we could get to heaven by our own strength we would be boasting that we are going to make it….but it’s only by God’s grace and mercy that we can be saved. He had pity on us and loved us so much that he did not want us to die eternally.

Now the third step in salvation is C….”Confess your sin before God”

They need to understand that that need to confess to God that they are sinners and need to be saved.

Romans 10:9-10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Tell them to call upon the Lord and ask the Lord to save them and He will by what he tells us in his Word.

Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

There we have the “whosoever” again. God is telling us no matter what sin we have committed he still loved us enough to send his Son and if we will just call upon him and confess our sins that he will save us!

I John 1:9 says,
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

The Bible tells that if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In other words that verse that says there is none righteous no not one….well through Christ we are made righteous and worthy to go before the throne of God in prayer and to go to heaven when we die.

When you get through showing all these verse ask them if they would like to accept Christ as their personal Saviour. IF they do ask them if hey would like to pray themselves or with you. If they want you to pray with them explain to them that you praying will not get them saved but they have to pray too with a sincere heart and mean what they are asking God to do. Then go through the sinners prayer.

“Dear Jesus, I do repent of my sins and ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again the third day. I am trusting in you alone to take me to heaven. Help me to now live for you everyday. Thank you for saving me, Jesus, In Jesus, name I pray, amen.”

When you get finished ask them if they meant what they asked God to do. If they say yes; then tell them that according to the promises of God’s Word, they are now a born again Christian. Tell them to tell someone about the good news of their salvation today!

Then share these verse with them:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” I John 5:12

Explain to them that because they have accept Christ as their personal Saviour that they have eternal life and will never see the pits of hell.
