My Journal

(16-Jan-05; 20:07) I just got done with Physical Training (PT) and I'm on my way to work. I only have to work 8 hours tonight. Just thought I would start up a journal to add to my sight. A glimpse into the wacky world of an Army girl in Korea. I can't wait for Tuesday, my day off. It's gonna be fun.
(17-Jan-05; 06:24) Just got off work. Tonight was a long night. I had to go to a last minute formation right before work, where they told us that anyone with a rank of Specialist or below (which includes me) is not allowed to consume alcohol or even have it in their room. This doesn't phase me too much, but we are also not allowed to go off post until further notice. I'm not too fond of that idea because there isn't a lot to do on post, and this is my last week before I start my Sociology and Philosophy class, so I will be too busy on my days off. Oh well, I'll live I guess.

(18-Jan-05; 15:00) Just slept through my first meeting as DFAC Representative. I'm mad. I set my alarm and everything. I feel like kind of an ass now. Oh well, its my weekend now, and I will concentrate on finding something fun to do ON POST. I'll probably go out with my buddies, Figueroa, Muller, and Donnineli.

(19-Jan-05; 16:35) Went to team bonding event today. Went bowling. I SUCKED!!! My best score out of 4 games was 80. Oh well, I had fun. And I've decided I wouldn't mind bonding a little more with one member of my team. He's pretty handsome, and very nice. Pretty much the only one on my team that doesn't tease me all the time. Too bad he's already been here for a while, so he'll probably be leaving soon. Probably better anyway not to hook up with anyone here, cuz unless they extend here, you only get 1 year with them, and so if you want a relationship with them, one year is just long enough to care for them, but not to keep anything going. Oh well, I'm only 20 and still got time to do the whole dating/love thing.

(20-Jan-05; 18:00) Well, I just found out, we are allowed to go off post again. And drink, just not near the barracks. My roommate (Koko), and our friend Jaime are going to Nitewatch. to get some Mongolian BBQ. Then, since we can go off post, we are going to kidnap him and try to find a Karaoke Bang, which is a place where you can rent a private room for an hour and just karaoke whatever songs you want for the entire time. It's gonna be fun. Oh, and went to see Seed Of Chucky the other night. Funny, but hoaky. Don't take the movie seriously, and you can have a good time watching it.

(23-Jan-05; 00:05) So, back to work now. It's a long night so far. I'm glad I only have about 5 1/2 hours left. We found the Karaoke Bang, had a lot of fun, sang till my throat bled... almost literally. Going to try to catch Phantom of the Opera today. I'll let everyone know how it is. Well, not much else to say... other than we have a huge inspection coming up and I hope I do well. I hate these things. They scrutinize your look and your living quarters. Our room is expected to look as if no one has ever lived in it, yet we DO live in these rooms, and decades of people before us have too. It's hard to make condemned barracks look good, but, I'll try my best, and take what I get.

(23-Jan-05; 18:25) I just went to see Phantom of the Opera. It was great. I got goosebumps. So now, before I go into work, I gotta find my Nightwish CD that has the Phantom of the Opera song, and litlen to it until EVERYONE is sick of it.

(24-Jan-05; 20:03) Well, I am home after my first Philosophy class. I love it. The teacher is such a hippy. He kept saying, "man". I have a feeling I will get a lot out of this class. Well, I have a lot to do before work. I guess I should get to it.

(30-Jan-05; 00:25) So, It's been a while since I updated this. I have finished my first week of class and got way more out of it than I was expecting. On thursday, one of the guys thats in both my classes asked me out on a date. We went out last night and we really hit it off. He's really sweet and funny. He's about 7 months younger than me, which makes him 19, but I think he's smarter than me. His name is Dathan and he's from Louisiana. At the end of our first date, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and the way he makes me feel when I'm with him, it just felt right to say yes. So this would be the first time in about 2 and a half years that I've actually had a real boyfriend. It's still kinda wierd when I think that I've got a boyfriend, but I hope it works out. Well, gotta go back to work soon. Ooh, and I'm going to go to a Papa Roach concert tomorrow night. Cool of them to come to Korea to give a free concert to soldiers.

(10-Feb-05; 18:02) I just woke up after having CQ all night. For those of you that dont know, that stands for Charge of Quarters. See, now your LESS confused. Pretty much, I just sit in my company office and answer phones and give people a ride to work after the buses and cabs shut down for the night. Not really fun, but at least we are allowed to do practically anything to keep us awake. We can order take out, play video games, watch movies, so I guess its better than going to work. I have CQ again on the 12th. While on CQ last night, I finished reading "THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN". I rank it a 10. Great book. It's not really religious, it is just a story about one very interesting idea of the afterlife. I definitely recommend you check it out. It is very easy to read.
Also, on the 7th, I went an hour north to Orthopedics to get my hip looked at, since it's been hurt for the past 2 years. The doc says he thinks it has to do with my back. But when he found the Bursitis I was diagnosed with a year ago, he decided to give me a steroid injection. THAT SUCKED!!! Well, I gotta get ready for class now. Hopefully it's not cancelled. They keep cancelling my Sociology class, at this rate, I will finish this 8 week course, some time AFTER I leave Korea in abut TWO YEARS!!!

(16-Feb-05; 0244) Well, broke up with Dathan. Not for any fault of his, there just wasn't the feeling. Can't pretend. Not fare for him. Other than that, things are going ok. We'll see how things go from here.

(18-Mar-05; 0504) So, it's been a while since i last updated this. Things have been quite hectic in my life. And things have not gotten easier. We are starting a project at work that will leave me with little to no freetime, no days off for about a week and a half, and I can only wear my uniform, even on my offtime. Gotta love the military. Also, my off post priveleges have been taken away all because of me being hurt for the past 2 years. They claim it's for my own good, so I don't go off post and walk around too much, but it still sucks. While everyone else gets to go off post for dinner, karaoke, or just hanging out in the clubs or shopping, I am stuck on post where the only non-fast-food restaraunt is decent at best. I am not even allowed in the one club they have on post because they don't trust me that I won't dance. I think they are just being buttheads. It isn't even the doctors saying this. Its just my higher-ups. So now, here I sit, in my room, so incredibly bored, especially since my off time is at night when everything is closed on post anyway. Oh well, I figure some way to deal I guess. One of my friends is finally coming back from a long vacation, and I know he won't abandon me to go hang out off post.

(12-Apr-05; 0107) So, big things happening in my life. I am switching sections at work, which means new training. And this morning, we had a huge inspection, which I passed. Also, referring back to the Jan 19 entry. The guy I was talking about that i wouldn't mind getting together with, we are together now. His name is Jon and he is a total sweetheart. I'm giddy like a school girl. I feel rediculous for feeling this way, but it's fun.

(26-Apr-06; 1527) OK, So it's been a long time since my last entry. Here's what's been happening. That guy Jon is over. Nice guy, but it just didn't work out. I've had a few flings since then, but now, and for the past 5 months, I have been dating Kyle. Right now I am actually in Colorado at his mom's house visiting for a month. I am no longer in Korea. I am at Ft. Lewis, WA waiting for the medical process which will probably separate me from the army. Well, that more or less sums up the past year. I will try to update this more often.

(13-Nov-06; 1501) I am now back home in beautiful California, where I have been for the past 3 months. Kyle and I are about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, and luckily, he's in Cali too. I am in the middle of a semester at Solano Community College and am trying to get a teaching degree. Not much time to write right now, but hopefully again sometime soon.
