Chapter Three

"This tree will be over decorated!"  Stephanie said, as she carried out yet another box of decorations.
"But it will be beautiful."  Brian told her.
"I know it will."  Stephanie put down the box and looked at Brian.
"Just like you."  Brian smiled, and then leaned down and kissed her.
Stephanie wrapped her arms around Brian and kissed him back. "Where are the others?"
"They are getting stuff together, like popcorn and hot chocolate."  Brian said before kissing her again.
"Okay, I just wanted to be sure we won't be interrupted."
Stephanie laughed as Brian spun her around and then they continued kissing.

Jen opened another cupboard.  "Where is the hot chocolate, Nick?"
"Um…Kevin said it was down there."  Nick said as he poured popcorn into a bowl.
"I am not seeing it!" Jen whined.
"Let me help you."  Nick got down on the floor and routed through a pile of boxes.  "Here we are."
      "Thanks, Nick."  Jen grinned.
"No problem for the girl I love."  Nick smiled and helped her off the floor.
"Nick…" Jen cried.  "You just said…"
      "What?"  Nick asked.
"You said you loved me."  Jen felt tears on her cheeks.  "You have never said that to me before."
"I though you knew."  Nick reached up and wiped a tear off her face. "Why are you crying?"
"Because I am so happy."  Jen smiled.  "Nick, I want to you to know that I love you too!"
Nick pulled her into his arms.  "Baby, we just had our first I love you's.  This makes me so happy."
Jen pulled away and looked into his eyes.  "Get used to it, because I love you Nick Carter."
"I love you too, Jen."  Nick and Jen kissed.

Howie handed some more wood to Jessica.  "Can you handle that?"
"Howard Dwaine Dorough!  I am not a wimp!"  Jessica laughed.
"Why'd they have to put the wood shed away from the house?  It is freezing out."
"I'll keep you warm."  Howie offered.
"I might just take you up on that offer!"  Jessica said, slyly.
"Let's venture back out into the cold."  Howie said and opened the door.  A blast of cold air hit them.
       "Oh, great."  Jessica muttered.
The two began to walk back to the lodge.  Howie stopped, put down his wood and was staring.
      "Come on, Howie."  Jessica urged.
      "Look at that."  Howie pointed.
Jessica looked to where he was pointing.  She gasped at the beautiful sight.  The sun was setting casting reds, oranges, and yellows over the valley below.  Snow was falling lightly on the mountain giving it the perfect look.  She, too, put down her wood and stared. "It's beautiful."
Howie came behind her and put his arms around her waist.  The two watched the sunset in each other's arms.

Kate and AJ were supposed to be getting the lights from the basement.  Supposed to be.  But what they were doing was kissing.
"AJ, they are gonna wonder what is taking us so long."  Kate said.  "Not that I don't mind this."
"Let them wonder."  AJ kissed her again.
"We'll have plenty of time to do this later."  Kate stood up.
       "Okay."  AJ reluctantly agreed.
The two got up and started searching for lights.
"So, any hints on what you got me for Christmas?"  Kate asked.
"Not one."  AJ thought of the box that was tucked away in his suitcase.  "No peeking either."
"I promise."  It was Kate's turn to be reluctant.  "I'll love it anyway."
       "I hope so."  AJ said.

               ******
"Okay, everything is ready."  Carrie said.  "Let's decorate!"
"Yeah, but is everyone ready?"  Melissa asked.  The two girls   looked around the room.  Some people were missing.
"OKAY, MAKE OUT TIME IS OVER!  GET IN HERE…NOW!"  Carrie called.
Like moths to a flame, people came rushing to the room.
"Wow, Jessica, your face is flushed!"  Kendra said.
"It is from the cold."  Jessica answered, quickly.
      "Sure it is!"  Stephanie teased.
      "It is!"  Jessica insisted.
      Jen and Nick finally appeared.
"Well, slow pokes, it is about time."  Angie said, putting her hands on her hips.
      They blushed.
Everyone started in decorating the tree.  People were laughing and cuddling.  The lights, tinsel, and ordainments soon were on the tree.
All that was left was the angel.
"Kevin or Nick, you're the tallest guys, will one of you put the angel on the tree?"  Carrie held it out.
Kevin took it from her and placed it on the tree.
"Mom once told me that they put angels on trees to watch over the people in the room.  We have an angel watching over us guys!"  AJ told them.
"That was so sweet, sweetie!"  Kate cooed.
"Please save the making out part for later…when I'm not around!" Melissa covered her eyes, peeking through her fingers.  "Are they done necking?"
"They never started."  Angie informed her.
"Thank goodness, my virgin eyes."  Melissa sighed in relief.
"We are going shopping tomorrow, if anyone has last minute shopping to do."  Jen stood up, and looked out the window.  "It's pretty out there."
      "Let's go out!"  Jessica suggested.
"Why?  You, yourself, said it was freezing."  Kate said.
"If we get bundled up, it will be fine."  Jessica went over to the closest.  "Look at all the gear we got!"
"I for one, like that idea."  Carrie went over to the box. "Ooo, I got dibs on the blue hat!"
"Hey, no fair!"  Brian cried.  "I like blue!"
"Brian, there are more than one blue hat here!"  Carrie threw one at him.  "I just got the best one."

              *****

"Did you ever try to catch snowflakes on your tongue?"  Jen asked everyone.
"I lived in Florida most of my life.  This is like my fourth time seeing snow!"  Carrie squealed.
"I take it that was a no!"  Jen laughed and stuck her tongue out.  A snowflake fell on it.  "See it is not that hard."
The girls were pre-occupied with catching snowflakes they didn't notice the boys rallying behind them.  Suddenly a snowball went through the air hitting Kendra on the back.
      "Ow!"  Kendra whined.
"Oh, come on."  Nick said. "That didn't hurt!"
"No it didn't.  I just wanted some publicity."  Kendra heaved one back at Nick but instead it hit Howie.  She laughed.  "Sorry, D."
That was the beginning of the snowball fight, boys against girls.
"Are you sure we should be doing this in the dark?"  Carrie asked Melissa as they hid behind a tree waiting for a boy.
"Perfect camouflage."  Melissa hissed.  "Now, be quiet, here comes AJ."
"He's mine."  Carrie stood up and hit him in the stomach.  She laughed with delight, and ran off.
"I know that was you!" AJ yelled.  "Hey, guys, Carrie is mine."
"You have to find me first."  Carrie yelled from a new hiding place.
"Oh, I will."  AJ laughed, and picked up a snowball.  "Oh,       Carrie, come on out and take it like a man!"
"You idiot!"  She called.  "I AM A WOMAN!"
Brian joined AJ.  He thought he saw something running in between two trees, and then he felt a snowball hit his leg.  He whirled around to see Stephanie standing there.
"Oh, so you want to play!"  Brian ran after Stephanie and tackled her. "Gotcha!"
"So, you do!  Now what are you going to so with me."  Stephanie asked slyly.
"I don't know."  Brian leaned over and kissed her.  "Maybe that."  And then he kissed her again. "And maybe this."
Kate walked over.  "The point of this fight is not to kiss but to chuck little balls made out of a white cold substance that falls from the sky. "See, like this."  She threw a snowball towards Howie, nailing him on the head.  "Score!"
"Okay, that wasn't very nice."  Howie said to Kate.  Kate frowned.  Then Howie threw one at her and he missed.
"You suck, D!"  She laughed, and stuck her tongue out at him.
"I will get you back."  Howie vowed.
"Sure, and lobsters bark."  Kate ran off with Howie screaming revenge behind her.
     "Brian, I'm cold."  Stephanie shivered.
Brian pulled her close.  "We are soon stopping.  Looks like the guys won."
Carrie ran by, shrieking, with Kevin and AJ behind her.
Melissa, Kendra, and Angie were behind them.  Then Nick rushed by.
    "What was that?"  Brian asked.
Stephanie laughed.  "Just friends having fun."
The group can back.  Kevin was carrying Carrie.  She was trying to squirm out of his arms.
"For the crime of hitting Bone we sentence you to this."  Kevin dumped her in a nearby snow bank.
Carrie stood up laughing.  "That was fun, but it's late."
     "Party pooper."  Kevin snorted.
"Do you wanna go?"  Carrie asked, taking a fighting stance.
"Bed time it is."  Kevin said.
"Yeah, you better run!"  Carrie laughed.
Kevin picked her back up.  He started running to the lodge yelling.  "The Queen must be saved from the bitter cold."
"See what I mean?"  Brian asked Howie.
"Okay, so they like each other."  Howie admitted.
"No, they are head over heels for each other."  Kendra said.
