On October 4th 2001, my dad died of lung cancer. Shortly before he died, dad revealed that he had 12 maxed out credit cards and left my mom responsible for well over $250,000 in debt. Mom used dad's life insurance to pay hospital and some of his other bills (Lung cancer is an expensive and painfull way to die) We had to give up our good car, and were left with an older car that has alot of problems.
Now mom is working a minimum wage job, which will be garnished, and our home will be taken away and sold to pay the rest of dad's debts. She has tried to declare bankruptsy but she can't here in the state of New Mexico due to some technical stuff. I do not understand the state laws, but we need your help!
The stress is wearing down my mom so much she is actually on anti-depressant medication (that we really can't afford but she needs!) And with my mom being so stressed and upset all of the time it is really affecting me too.
