Okie dokie...yes, I will have to admit this set is a LITTLE strange, but then I am a LITTLE strange, so hey, what can ya expect, right??? Seriously tho', this set is great...hehehe...see the kitty clock with his tail a swingin'??? Sheesh, that reminds me of when I was a little girl and my mom used to take me to this store called "mom & tots"...they had one of those clocks, and I always wanted one sooo baddd!!! And hey, NOW I HAVE ONE!!! COOL!!! Ah, so much cool stuff on this page that takes me back sooo many yearz...yes, someday I truly believe it is possible that I could OD on nostalgia!!! I love all the memories I have of growin' up, I had a great childhood...makes me feel sad for my kidos, cuz it sure ain't like it was when I grew up...
See the little girl with the hula hoop??? Boy, do I remember those, lol, I jus' never could get my hips to gyratin' exactly right to keep that thing a goin'!!! {My daughter, however, seems to have been made to hula hoop, and dance, etc...geez, the girl really does have rhythm...she musta got my portion!}Anyway - then we have the lovely flamingo's, that NO self-respecting southern yard should be with out!!! My family and I started this pink flamingo thing several years back all in good fun!!! We had some really great neighbors who were absolutely manic about their yard...anyway...one of us came up with this idea to sneak over to their house one night, and leave bunches of those plastic pink flamingos in their yard as a joke...it was really funny...the wife knew EXACTLY who had done it, and she thought it was hysterical...but the really funny thing was that the husband did not even notice them for over a week!!! And since then the flamingos have kinda become sort of a 'family tradition'...OH!!! And don't forget the martini's...{they always remind me of the old James Bond movies *G*...does anyone really drink those anymore???}
Anyway, this page was FUN!!! It made me think back to very happy times, when things were a little slower and life wasn't quite so crazy...do you remember when you actually KNEW your neighbors, and they were actually your FRIENDS??? And you bbq'd with them on holidays and the weekends...and at night, instead of spending every wakin' minute inside in front of the tube, or the puter or a video game, the adults sat outside and visited in those funky lawn chairs, and the kidz ran around catchin' lightning bugz in jars, or playing "hide and seek", or "mother may I", or "red light, green light", until the mosquitoes ate you alive!!! YUP, I miss those daze...I miss five cent cokes in those little bottles, and twenty-five cent movies, and five hamburgers for a dollar at Hansen's...Sheesh, I miss drive-in's, I don't think either one of my kidz has ever seen one...or at the very least jus' a regular movie theater...one that is not just a little rectangle with rows and rows of seats, but the big beautiful ones we used to have...that had at least ONE balcony!!! A big day was Saturday, you usually got dressed up {the ladies wore hatz and glovez, everyone wanted to look like Jackie Kennedy!!!}, and went 'downtown' to shop on Main Street...yes, believe it or not, we did not have malls...{how did we exist without malls???}...and the department stores were so cool...someone ACTUALLY ran the elevator for you...and when you went to get gas {I REALLY MISS THIS PART :)}, someone ACTUALLY pumped your gas for you, washed your windshield, and checked your water and oil!!! I loved that big green Sinclair dinosaur!!! I kinda miss the tiger in my tank too...but hey, ya can't stop progress right!?? Pave paradise and put up a parkin' lot...
Okay, Okay, I have raved on and on about 'the good ole' days...HA!!! And then came the 60's and 70's, and man THOSE REALLY WERE the 'good ole' days...but I'll cover that somewhere else...I guess in any society all things must change, some for the good and some for the bad...there has most certainly been sooo many GOOD changes...but, sometimes I do wonder if they outweigh the bad...guess it jus' all depends on how ya look at it!!!
Well, this page was NOT supposed to be a trip down memory lane :}...sorry guyz, guess I was jus' in retrospective mood...what can I say??? Actually this page is jus' supposed to be link to the other parts of the website...so go have a look around...check out my first blog!!! {Actually there are three blogs on here...one is jus' personal stuff, one is jus' for art and music, and one is for more serious issues...} Or jus' wander around, and if ya get a chance I sure would appreciate you leavin' your comments in my guestbook and jus' sayin' 'hi'...remember this site is UNDER CONSTRUCTION...I am working on a very special part of this site called 'Love Street'...I have very high hopes for it someday *smile*...it is sort of a retro site, but also modern as well...In the next couple of weeks I also hope to get some photos up here, so u can see who u are talkin' to!!! So keep on comin' back real often, cuz ya never know what ya might find here...alrighty??? OK guys, I'm going to wrap it up here. Have a great day, be kind to animals (and people too) and I'll c'yall in a few, k? dude!) otay? laterz all, xoxo, ~Harley
