Hello again friends... today's journal entry is going to be a bit different than other days. In fact, I've removed my journal from the site temporarily so that I may focus completely on a very important issue. I am writing now to tell Elly's story, a very dear friend of mine.
Elly is one of those rare people you meet once in a lifetime, with a great attitude and big heart, always ready and willing to help another in their time of need. But now Elly needs someone's help. Elly was diagnosed on 7-17-01 with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. My sweet friend has been in and out of the hospital for a year, has endured 6 months of chemotherapy, has lost all of her hair, has had an iliostomy bag, and has had three blood transfusions. All this she has had to endure without help due to the fact that she has been divorced since 1996 and has sole custody of her two beautiful boys, Jason and Jake - now 13 & 15, with wants and needs of their own. Elly is the most dedicated and loving mother I've ever seen. She lives paycheck to paycheck, because unfortunately, her ex took everything when he left; yet she still manages to provide for her boys as she does without.
The irony of the situation is this: the doctors have informed her that her cancer was most likely related to stress, because there is no history of cancer in her family. They've warned her that if she continues her workload as is she takes a chance on weakening her immune system, making her more susceptible to a relapse. Yet as we all know, if you do not work, you do not get paid. The work that has attempted to claim her life once and will do so again is the only thing that can feed her family.
I have set up a Cancer Trust Fund in her name to hopefully ease her burden and workload a bit and am now giving all my friends, devoted readers, and the public the chance to help it grow. If anyone can spare anything to help Elly, you may send contributions to:
