A

Aaron	-son of Amram (grandson of Levi) and Jochebed (Ex 6:20) -Moses older brother God made him the speaker for Moses (Ex 4:14) -Moses and Aaron went to tell Pharoah to let the children of Israel go (Ex 5_  -Took Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Nahshon, as wife and she bore him Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar -83 years old when he first talked to Pharoah (Ex 7:7) -priesthood would be perpetuated through Aaron's lineage.  Service of the Levites is implemented after Israel's rebellion with the golden calf.  (Ex 28:1-4) -died at Mt. Hor, because of the mistake he and Moses made in Kadesh at the water of Meribah, striking the rock this happens in their 40th year of wandering. (Num 20)
Abel	-Adam and Eve's second son...a shepherd (keeper of sheeps).(Gen 4:2) -The Lord respected Abel's offering.(Gen 4:4)
Abida	-son of Midian who was the son of Abraham and Keturah.(Gen 35:4)
Abihu	-He and Nadab were Aaron's son.  They were annointed as preists under Aaron as the high priest.  They offered profane fire to God and thus, God killed them. (Lev 10)
Abimael	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem *line of Seth*.(Gen 10:26-29)
Abimelech="My Father is king" ? same person?	-king of Gerar.  Abraham lied to him and told him Sarah was his sister.  (Gen 20:2) -King of the Philistines, unto Gerar: Isaac lied to him and told him Rebekah was not his wife.(Gen 26:1) ___________________________________________________________________ first born son of Gideon.  Wanted to be king of Israel.  To insure it, he had his 70 brothers killed.upon his fathers death.  Jotham, the youngest brother was the only one to escape.  Immediately, the men of Shechem and Beth Millo crowned Abimelech king at the terebinth tree at Shechem.  Killed by a woman.(Judges 9)
Abram	-also Abraham.  son of Terah  descendant of Shem *line of Seth*(Gen 11:29) -his wife was Sarai(Gen 11:29) -a Hebrew (Gen 14:13) -rescued Lot from Chedorlaomer(Gen 14:16) -He was 86 when Ishmael, his first son, was born (Gen 16:16) -named changed to Abraham when he was 99 (Gen 17:1) -lived 175 years (Gen 25:7) -buried in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre(Gen 25:9)
Achan	-stoned to death for violating the ‘ban’ during the conquest of Jericho (v. 1). Achan stole 200 shekels of silver, a Babylonian garment, and a wedge of gold weighing 50 shekels and hid them in the earthen floor of his tent (Joshua 7:21)The sin of Achan was imputed to the whole nation (vv. 11, 12), and thus they were soundly defeated in the battle of Ai (vv. 4, 5).
Adam	-first man created (Gen 2:7) -first son was Cain (Gen 4:2) second was Abel (Gen 4:1) -lived 130 years then begat Seth (Gen 5:3) -total lived 930 years (Gen 5:5)
Adbeel	-son of Ishmael and Hagar (Gen 25:13)
Adonizedek	-king of Jerusalem around the time Joshua and Israel came over to possess the promised land (Joshua 10)He was not happy with the treaty the Gibeonites made with the Israelites.  Gibeon asks Israel to help them and honor their covenant of peace.  During this battle with Gibeon, Joshua prayed that the sun and moon would stand still.
Almodad	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem *line of Seth* (Gen 10:26-29)
Amram	-son of Kohath, who was the son of Levi (Ex 6:18) -Amram took for himself Jochebed, his father's sister as wife, and she bore Aaron, Moses and Miriam (Ex 6:20; Num 26:59) -He lived 137 years (Ex 6:20)
Amraphel	-king of Shinar during Abraham's time made war with Bera king of Sodom (Gen 14:1)
Anamim	-son of Mizraim who was the son of Ham *line of Seth* (Gen 10:13)
Aram	-son of Shem *line of Seth* (Gen 10:22) -bore Uz, Hul, Gether, Mash (Gen 10:23)
Arioch	-king of Ellasar during Abraham's time made war with Bera king of Sodom (Gen 14:1)
Arphaxad	-son of Shem *line of Seth* (Gen 10:22) -bore Salah (Gen 10:24) -born 2 years after the flood (Gen 11:1) -was 35 when Salah was born (Gen 11:12) -lived 403 years after Salah was born (Gen 11:13)
Asenath	-wife of Joseph given to him by Pharoah, king of Egypt.  (Gen 41:45) -bore 2 sons before the famine:  Manasseh, and Ephraim (Gen 41:51)
Asher	-son of Jacob and Zilpah (Leah's handmaid) (Gen 30:13) -sons: Jimnah, Ishuah, Isui, Beriah, and daughter Serah (Gen 46:17)
Ashkenaz	son of Gomer who was the grandson of Noah *line of Seth* (Gen 10:2)
Asshur	-second son of Shem who went from the land of Shinar and built Nineveh, Rehoboth, Calah and Resen *line of Seth* (Gen 10:11-12)
Asshurim	-son of Dedan who was the grandson of Abraham and Sarah (Gen 25:3)

B

Balak	-king of the Moabites (son of Zippor).  He is afraid of Israel, so he calls for Balaam (a soothsayer) to destroy the Israelites. (Num 22)
Balaam	-a soothsayer from Pethor, a city on the Euphrates in Mesopotamia.  Hired by King Balak of Moab to destroy the Israelites.  God informs him that the Israelites are protected and that he is not to go with the kings men.  It's not that Balaam doesn't want to go beyond what God says, he does.  But he knows that he can't.  When they offer him a lot of money, Balaam asks God again if he can go and God said he could, but only under certain circumstances.  Balaam didn't listen to any of them and just went on.  Then he has the conversation with his donkey.  When Balaam comes to Balak, he explains that he can only say what God will allow.  (Num 22)
Barnabus	also called Joses -a prophet (Acts 13:1) -an apostle(Acts 14:14)
Barak	instructed to free Israel from king Jabin's hold during the time Deborah was judging Israel.(Judges 4).  Agreed only if Deborah would accompany him.  His wavering in this situation would cause the honor of victory to go to a woman, leaving Barak somewhat disgraced. Nevertheless, Barak still consented to the task, perhaps expecting that woman to be Deborah.
Benammi	-son of Lot and his younger daughter who was without child.  They gave Lot, their father, wine and went unto him because they lived in a cave and there were no men around so that they could preserve the seed of their father (Gen 19:37) -Father of the Ammonites
Benjamin	-last son of Rachel and Jacob (Rachel died in childbirth)(Gen 35:18) -sons: Belah, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard (Gen 46:21)(went with Jacob to Egypt)
Bera	-king of Sodom during Abraham's time (Gen 14:2)
Beriah	-son of Asher (son of Jacob and Zilpah (Leah's handmaid)) -sons: Heber and Malchiel (Gen 46:17)(went with Jacob to Egypt)
Bethuel	-son of Milcah and Nahor (Abraham's brother) Bore Rebekah (Gen 22:21)
Bezaleel	-overseer of building of tabernacle.  Makes the temple and all furnishings  according to the commands God had given Moses. (Ex 31:2-3; 36:1;37-38)
Bilhah	-Rachel's handmaid (Gen 29:29) -her and Jacob bore Dan for Rachel her owner (Gen 30:6) -also bore Naphtali (Gen 30:8) -when she was done bearing children, she gave her handmaid, Zilpah to Jacob to wife (Gen 30:9)
Birsha	-king of Gomorrah during Abraham's time (Gen 14:2)
Boaz	-from the line of Judah. Close relative of Elimelech (Naomi's husband).  Ruth worked in his fields and he was exceptionally nice to her.  They later married and first son was Obed.
Buz	-son of Milcah and Nahor (Gen 22:21)

C

Cain	-Adam and Eve's first son (Gen 4:1) -tiller of the ground (Gen 4:2) -The Lord did not respect Cain and his offering (Gen 4:5) -Killed his brother Abel (Gen 4:8) -After killing Abel, left and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden (Gen 4:16)
Cainan	-Son of Enos (Genesis 5:9) *from the line of Seth* -lived 70 years before Mahalaleel was born (Genesis 5:12) -total lived 910 years (Genesis 5:14)
Caleb	-from the tribe of Judah, the son of Jephunneh.  He and Joshua were the only two of the 12 faithful men who got to go spy out the promised land, the land of Canaan.  They were the only 2 of the 12 who didn't die by the plague, and the only 2 who were going to live long enough to see the promised land and enter it.  (Num 13-14)
Canaan	-son of Ham who was the middle child of Noah *line of Seth* -when Noah awoke from his drunkenness, Noah cursed Canaan (Gen 9:25) -son of Ham (grandson of Noah) (Genesis 10:6) *line of Seth* -bore Sidon and Heth (Gen 10:15)
Caphtorim	-son of Mizraim who was the son of Ham (Gen 10:13) *line of Seth*
Casluhim	-son of Mizraim who was the son of Ham (Gen 10:13) *line of Seth* -bore Philistim (Gen 10:14) *line of Seth*
Cephas	-<see Peter> Aramaic for Peter which means "rock"
Chedorlaomer	-king of Edam during Abraham's time (Gen 14:1) made war with Bera, king of Sodom -took Lot (Abraham's brother son) (Gen 14:12)
Chesed	-son of Milcah and Nahor (Gen 22:22)
Chloe	-a christian of Corinth.  I Corinthians 1:11.  Some of whose household had informed Paul of the divided state of the Corinthian church.
Cush	-eldest son of Ham (grandson of Noah) (Genesis 10:6) *line of Seth* -bore Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabtecha (Gen 10:7) *line of Seth* -also bore Nimrod (Genesis 10:8)he was a mighty hunter *line of Seth*

D

Dan	-son of Bilhah (Rachel's handmaid) and Jacob (Gen 30:6) -sons: Hushim (Gen 46:23)(went with Jacob to Egypt)
David = "Beloved"	from Bethlehem.  Annointed by Samuel. (1 sam 16).   Started out playing the harp for Saul when he was distressed.  In 1 Sam 17 we read about David’s great courage and faith in facing Goliath, the Philistine giant.
Deborah	-Rebekah's nurse (Gen 35:8) _______________________________________________________ After Ehud judged Israel (after Joshua's death), Israel again turned to sin, and became captive  of Jabin, king of Canaan in Hazor and then Deborah judged Israel.  Through revelation was told  she needed to call Barak and inform him that God had chosen him to free Israel.  (judges 4)  AFter defeating Jabin and his army, had peace for 40 years.
Dedan	-son of Raamah who was the grandson of Ham *line of Seth* (Gen 10:7) -son of Jokshan who was the son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 25:3) -bore Asshurim, Letushim, Leummim (Gen 25:3)
Delilah	-Samson's second wife.  A Philistine.  The Philistine lords persuaded her t o discover the secret of his strength (his hair) (Judges 16)
Diklah	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem *line of Seth* (Gen 10:26-29)
Dinah	-daughter of Leah and Jacob (Gen 30:21) -Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, lay with her and violated her (Gen 34:2)
Dodanim	-son of Javan who was the grandson of Noah*line of Seth* (Gen 10:4)
Dumah	-son of Ishmael and Hagar (Gen 25:14)

E

Eber	-son of Salah who was the grandson of Shem (Gen 10:24) *line of Seth* -bore Peleg and Joktan (Gen 10:25) -34 when Peleg was born (Gen 11:17) -lived 430 years after Peleg (Gen 11:18)
Ehud	-second judge of Israel after death of Joshua.  Freed Israel from Eglon, king of Moab, who subdued Israel for 18 years.  With him, Israel had rest for 80 years and then lapsed into disobedience again (judges 3)
Elam	-son of Shem (Gen 10:22) *line of Seth*
Eldaah	-son of Midian who was the son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 35:4)
Eleazar	-son of Aaron, took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel as wife, and she bore him Phinehas (Ex 6:25)
Eli	priest judging Israel during the time of Samuel.  His sons (Hophni and Phinehas) are also priests and cause the people to sin. God sends a prophet to Eli to pronounce judgement on him for allowing these sons to continue to serve as priests.
Eliezer	-(of Damascus) would have been Abram's inheritor had Abram not had kids. (Gen 15:2)
Elimelech = "God is my king"	-married Naomi. From Bethlehem, Judah Relocated family in moab.  became sick and died very young.
Elishah	-son of Javan who was the grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:4) *line of Seth*
Elkanah	-father of Samuel, lived in Ephraim, was a Levite. Descendant of Korah.  Married to Peninnah and Hannah (mother of Samuel). (1 Sam 1)
Elzaphan	-Moses instructed him and his brother Mishael, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron (so they were Aaron's cousins) to carry Aarons sons bodies off after God killed them for offering profane fire.(Lev 10)
Enoch	-Cain's first son (Genesis 4:17) *from the line of Cain* -First son was Irad (Genesis 4:18) -Son of Jared (Genesis 5:19) *from the line of Seth* -lived 65 years before Methuselah was born (Genesis 5:21) -Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:22) -total lived 365 years (Genesis 5:23)
Enos	-son of Seth (Genesis 4:26) *from the line of Seth* -lived 90 years before Cainan was born (Genesis 5:9) -total lived 905 years (Genesis 5:11)
Ephah	-son of Midian who was the son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 35:4)
Epher	-son of Midian who was the son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 35:4)
Ephraim	-son of Joseph and Asenath (Gen 41:52) -when Israel was claiming the promised land, Ephraim was given the land north of Jerusalem in the southern part of what will later be the Kingdom of Israel (Joshua 16-17) -symbolizes British Empire
Ephron	-son of Zohar (Gen 23:8) -Abraham asked him for a cave of the field of Machpelah to bury Sarah in (Gen 23:9) -dwelt among the children of Heth; he was a Hittite (Gen 23:10)
Er	-son of Judah (son of Jacob & Leah) and Shua (Gen 38:3) -Judah gave Tamar as his wife (Gen 38:6) -but Er was wicked and the Lord killed him (Gen 38:7)
Esau	-Father of Edom (Gen 36:1) -Isaac and Rebekah's son (Gen 25:24-25) he and Jacob were twins. -sold Jacob his birthright for a bowl of porridge. (Gen 25:30) -had 2 wives:  Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite. (Gen 26:34) which Isaac and Rebekah were not happy about.
Eve	-Made from Adam's rib (Genesis 2:22) -Mother of all living (Genesis 3:20)

Gad	-son of Jacob and Zilpah (Leah's handmaid) (Gen 30:11) -sons: Ziphion, Haggi, shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli (Gen 46:16)(went with Jacob to Egypt)
Gaham	-son of Nahor (Abraham's brother) and his concubine Reumah (Gen 22:24)
Gershon	-son of Levi(Ex 6:16) -sons were: Libni, Shimi (Ex 6:17)
Gether	-son of Aram who was the son of Shem (Gen 10:22) *line of Seth*
Gideon	-prophet of God.  Led Israel after they resorted back into sin after the 40 years of peace after deborah and barak.  This time they were captive of the Midianites.(Judges 5).  After Gideon and his army of 300 defeated the Midianites, Israel had peace for another 40 years.  His sons name was Abimelech which means My father is king.  Even though Giedeon was never king.(Judges 9)
Goliath	of Gath.  The Philistine giant of 9 ft 9 in.  (1 Sam 16)  Every day, morning and evening, for nearly six weeks, Goliath would come out and defy Israel to accept his challenge (verse 16). It frightened the wits out of the Israelite soldiers. Then, one day, David happened to be there to hear Goliath’s challenge. Goliath was the enemy of God’s people. David immediately recognized that it was wrong to allow this situation to continue.  David believed it was necessary to intervene.
Gomer	-son of Japheth (grandson of Noah) (Gen 10:2) *line of Seth* -bore Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah (Gen 10:3)

Hadar	-son of Ishmael and Hagar (Gen 25:15)
Hadoram	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem (Gen 10:26-29) *line of Seth*
Hagar	-Sarai's handmaid, an Egyptian (Gen 16:1) -she conceived Ishmael (Gen 16:4) and Sarai despised her.
Ham	-2nd son of Noah (Gen 6:10; Gen 7:13; Gen 9:18) * from the line of Seth * -father of Canaan (Gen 9:18) -bore Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan (Genesis 10:6)
Hannah	-mother of Samuel.  Married to Elkanah.  She was barren and prayed for a son.  Part of her vow was that "no razor shall come upon his head (1Sam 1:11).  Her son Samuel would be a Nazarite from birth.
Hanoch	-son of Midian who was the son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 35:4)
Haran	-son of Terah descendant of Shem (Gen 11:26) *line of Seth* (Abraham's brother) -bore Lot (Gen 11:31)
Havilah	-son of Cush who was the son of Ham (Gen 10:7) *line of Seth* -son of Joktan, descendant of Shem (Gen 10:26-29) *line of Seth*
Hazar-maveth	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem (Gen 10:26-29) *line of Seth*
Hazo	-son of Milcah and Nahor (Gen 22:22)
Heth	-Son of Canaan who was the son of Ham (Gen 10:15) *line of Seth*
Hul	-son of Aram who was the son of Shem (Gen 10:22) *line of Seth*

Irad	-Son of Enoch (Genesis 4:18)*from the line of Cain*
Isaac	-Abraham's second son (Gen 21:1-3)Abraham was 100 when he was born. -first bore twins, Esau and Jacob (Gen 25:24) Isaac was 60 when she bore them.
Issachar	-son of Leah and Jacob (Gen 30:18) -sons: Tola, Puvah, Job, and Shimron (Gen 46:13)(went with Jacob to Egypt)
Ishbak	-son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 25:2)
Ishmael	-Abram and Hagar's (Sarai's Egyptian handmaid) son (Gen 16:11) -bore Nebajoth, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah (Gen 25:13-15) -lived 137 years (Gen 25:17)
Israel	-the country was defeated by Assyria
Ithamar	-son of Aaron (Lev 10:12)
Izhar	-son of Levi (Ex 6:16) his sons were: Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri (Ex 6:21)

Jabal	-Son of Lamech and Adah (Genesis 4:20).  * from the line of Cain* Father of those that dwell in tents and have cattle.
Jabin	-king of Hazor, north of the Sea of Galilee, forms an even larger alliance and attempts to take on Israel after the battle with Gibeon (to the south) when Joshua and Israel come to claim the promised land.  (Joshua 11).
Japheth	-youngest son of Noah (Gen 6:10; Gen 7:13; Gen 9:18) *from the line of Seth *
Jacob	-Isaac and Rebekah's son he and Esau were twins (Gen 25:24-26) -convinced Esau to sell him his birthright for a bowl of porridge (Gen 25:30) -deceived Isaac into blessing him in place of Esau (Gen 27) -Jacob fled his brother Esau and went to live with Laban, his uncle for a month (Gen 27:43) -Jacob agreed to work 7 years for Rachel (Laban's daughter) (Gen 29:18) -Went into Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid so that Rachel could have children by her. (She was jealous that her sister was having children and she wasn't) (Gen 30:4) -After Joseph was born, Jacob decided to return to his home country (Gen 30:25) -Jacob wrestled with God all night at Jabbok on his way to greet his brother (Gen 32:24) -Jacob's name changed to Israel (Gen 32:28) -Jacob called the name of the place where he wrestled with God Peniel (Gen 32:30) -After the incident with Dinah, God told Jacob to go to Bethel (Luz...in the land of Canaan) and make an altar. (Gen 35:1) -Jacob told all his family to put away foreign gods (Gen 35:2) -As they journeyed to Bethel, the cities around them did not pursue Jacob (Gen 35:5) -Called the name of the place where God spoke to him Bethel (Gen 35:15) -came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kirjath Arba (That is Hebron) where he died. (Gen 35:27) -once he found out his son Joseph was still alive, he and all his family moved to Canaan, where Joseph gave them land in Goshen (Gen 47:1) -Just before his death, he blessed Joseph's 2 sons, Ephraim first (the younger...he shall be a great nation...US) and then Manasseh(the older..he will be a multitude of nations...Britain)(Gen 48) -just before his death, he gathered his sons together to tell them what would happen through their line "in the last days" (Gen 49:1-28)
Jael	wife of Heber the Kenite, killed Sisera (general of Jabin's army) when Deborah and Barak attacked them.  Killed him by driving a tent stake through his head. (Judges)
Jair	following Tola, Jair judged Israel 22 years (judges 10)  After him, Israel went back into idolatry.
James	-son of Zebedee and Salome; an elder brother of John the apostle. -Present when Jesus revealed himself to the disciples after his resurrection (1 Cor 15:7; John 21:2)
Jared	-son of Mahalaleel (Genesis 5:15) *from the line of Seth* -lived 162 years before Enoch was born (Genesis 5:18) -total lived 962 years (Genesis 5:20)
Javan	-son of Japheth (grandson of Noah) (Gen 10:2) *line of Seth* -bore Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim Genesis 10:4)
Jephthah	-made a vow with God that if He would deliver the people of Ammon into his hands, then he would offer as a burnt offering the first thing that came out of his door to greet him(which was his daughter) (Judges 11). -judged 6 years (Judges 12) (*NOTE:After him is Samson)
Jerah	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem (Gen 10:26-29) *line of Seth*
Jethro	-also known as Reuel; Moses' father-in-law (Ex 2:21)
Jetur	-son of Ishmael and Hagar (Gen 25:15)
Jidlaph	-son of Milcah and Nahor (Gen 22:22)
Jobab	-son of Joktan, descendant of Shem (Gen 10:26-29) *line of Seth*

Jonathan	-Sauls son.  Leader of the army against the Philistines.(1 Sam 13-14)
Joseph	-son of Rachel and Jacob (Gen 30:25) -His brothers sold him to some Ishmaelites who took him to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, an officer of Pharoah and captain of the guard.(Gen 37) -while in prison, translated dreams of the butler and baker.  The butler was restored and the baker was hung. (Gen 40) -Pharoah gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On. (Gen 41:45) -became governor over the land; he was the one who sold food to all the people during the famine (Gen 42:6) -died when he was 110 years old (Gen 50:26)He was put in a coffin in Egypt for the time, but he told the children of Israel to take his bones from here (knowing God would later bring the children of Israel out of Egypt and back to Canaan...Moses took his bones back Ex 13:19)

Sarai	-Abram's wife. -name changed to Sarah (Gen 17:15) -was Abraham's half sister (Gen 20:12) -died at age 127 (Gen 23:1)died in Hebron in the land of Canaan.
Saul	-Israel's first king.  From tribe of Benjamin.(I Sam 9).  Before Saul was king, his family lost some sheep.  He and his servant had looked many day; then they decided to go to Samuel ("the seer") to find out what they should do. But God had already told Samuel that he (Saul) was to be the king ahead of time.    Saul’s initial anointing is done in secret, after his servant is asked to make himself scarce (9:27- 10:1). Saul is then given several signs to encourage him and prove God is behind this. -When they were at war with the Philistines, Samuel instructed Saul to wait for him 7 days and he would come and they would offer up the offerings.  Samuel was a little late, and Saul didn't wait, he went ahead and offered up the offerings on his own.  Samuel told him because of his foolishness, his kingdom would not continue in his family. (1 Sam 13:5-15).  In 1 Sam 14:24-52, Saul made his troops swear that they will not eat anything until the battle is over. This weakens the troops, Jonathan inadvertently breaks the oath, and eventually, in their hunger, the troops ravenously devour the spoil without properly bleeding the animals. When Saul finally attempts to seek God’s counsel again, at Ahijah’s suggestion (verse 36), God does not answer. Saul concludes that somebody must have sinned in the previous battle (as at Jericho/Ai) and asks God to reveal the culprit by lot. He is surprised to learn it was his own son—whom he then immediately condemns to death. But the people say that is going too far, and refuse to let him carry it out.  Sons of Saul=Jonathan, Jishui, Malchishua.  Daughters=Merab, Michal.  Wife=Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz.  Commander of the army=Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.  Father=Kish.  Kish and Ner (Abners father) were the son of Abiel.  In the battle with the Amalekites, God instructed Saul to wipe them completely out, sparing nothing or noone.  Instead, Saul captures and spares the king and keeps the best of their livestock  to "offer as a burnt offering to God".  God was upset with Saul and rejects him and instructs Saul to annoint David as next king over Israel.(1 Sam 15)
