Text Box: INFORMATION WANTED
I have had a number of requests for information about a ship which, it seems, was unable to dock in Inverness. It was anchored in the Moray Firth in 1941. The ship was believed to be the FRANKLIN, or similar. It was reported that food was sent to the ship by Ardersier residents. I would also be grateful for information regarding a tanker ship which struck a mine in the Moray Firth to the West of Nairn, This incident was about 1940. I remember seeing the smoke from Petty Point. I believe the name of the skipper was Fred Mont or Mant?  Any info much appreciated.               Regarding the plaque which is believed to be located on Cromal Hill, it appears that it is not an ordnance survey trig point, the nearest one is located on Hill of Fortrose, see link:       http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/map-detail.php?g=NH7149357370

A few yarns, some of which are very parochial and others with a wider interest. The passage of time - amongst other things - affects the memory cells so any corrections will be most welcome. Some of the photographs are not of the best quality, but as a result of these pages a few better ones may appear out of the woodwork.
