CPT James D. Crabtree's
DESERT FOX JOURNAL

In December 1998 I was deployed as part of Operation Desert Fox. I kept a journal, and now that certain individuals are no longer in power the contents of that journal can be made public.

Some background: I was assigned to the 11th ADA Brigade Emergency Operations Center during both Operation Desert Fox and the previous unpleasantness in November. I discovered shortly after the entire operation began that I would be deploying overseas with the 32nd Air And Missile Defense Command as an "augmentee."

"These are not ordinary times. MG Gavin stopped by wednesday night wearing a civilian suit and what looked like a Rush tie. He shook hands with soldiers at Center Gym as they prepared to go overseas."

"I would not put it pass Clinton to start a war in order to prevent his removal from office."

"This deployment is almost surreal. Granted, for Desert Shield we had almost six weeks in which to deploy; now it's 4 days."
