BUSINESS PLAN PROJECT
(part I: Business Plan)
You and
your team (of 2 or 3 people) are opening a new business.
You will create a business plan explaining your business in detail. Your
business must be an original, no franchises. For example you cannot have a GAP
store. It must be your own using
your own products. The business
cannot be a Nike brand shoe store. The store must be of your own shoe line of
your own styles.
You will
be using MS Word and the Internet. You
will need to research other businesses to learn about their product, the market
conditions, business costs, etc.
Part
I:
In MSWord, save your first document as BusPlan_your company name.
The title is your business name; clearly include all your names and
business titles.
1.
Write an executive summary. Write
a two-page (3 page if you have a group of 3 people) description of all the
elements of your plan.
2.
Organize the information for your business plan to include these
subtopics: company
description, product or service, customers,
market, competition and potential
risk.
3.
Within the writing make sure you address these questions:
·
Describe your
company. Spell out the purpose of your business. Talk about the skills you and
your management team have.
·
Explain your
product or service. Detail how you will make or provide it. Analyze the costs
associated with this process. List your supply sources.
·
Talk about the
market you’re entering. Discuss general trends in the industry. Include
details about the market segment you are pursuing, the niche you are targeting
and your target customer; provide demographics on your potential customers and
explain their buying habits. Analyze your competition.
·
Describe your
marketing plan. Explain how you will generate sales through advertising,
promotion and public relations. Estimate all costs conservatively.
