Inspiration

Writers are only as great as their inspiration. Inspiration is what moves us, motivates us, and makes us see things the way that we see them. Without our inspiration, writers would not have any reason to write. After all, one must have something about which to write, correct? There must always be a starting point.

Many writers, however, neglect to acknowledge that which inspires them. They prefer to take all of the credit themselves, rather than give credit where it is properly due. In fact, many writers do not even begin to consider what inspires them. So, many inspirational objects go unnoticed. However, once again, every writer has inspiration. I am not excluded from this. However, my inspiration is not an event, an attitude, a special place, or anything of that nature: it is a person.

I often wonder where I would be right now if she were never introduced into my life. I believe that it would be a very cold, empty place, but what is most unfortunate is that I would not even be aware of my own inferiority simply because, before I met her, I saw things in a much more indefinate and unclear manner. She has truly shone her glorious light upon me and added clarity to my existence.

Society today is a mess, that goes without saying. However, whenever she is around me, I feel as though there isn't anything wrong with the world or my life, simply because she's in them both. Any worries I may have are erased by her, simply because she is smart enough not to have any. She isn't ignorant, mind you; she's perfectly aware of all the wrongs and evils of the world. Her strategy is just to try her best to make the world a better place and realize fully that she isn't perfect and can't change everything by herself. However, it is my belief that she has made the world a good enough place just by inhabiting it. So, instead of worrying about all that's wrong and negative with the world, I focus harder on that which is positive. I've found that approach to be much more fulfilling, and it doesn't qualify as ignorance because the negative side of things is not being disregarded.

There are instances in my life when I feel as if I am the only person around. It is times like these when I feel truly alone. At these times, all I really want is warmth, warmth that may be able to fill any empty spaces I have. When I feel like this, I think of her, and instantaneously I begin to feel better. Whenever I catch her gaze, I look deep within the deep blue-green eyes of which I so often speak and I always find that warmth. Just hearing her melodious voice, either in person or not, is enough to make me feel better about any situation I may be facing. She gives me purpose and direction, and I feel that, because of her, I have somewhere to go with my life. I am no longer lost; she has taken me by the hand and led me away from confusion and into that which is familiar. She is everything at once; there is no one that I would rather be with, simply because nobody has the same effect on me that she does.

Inspiration comes in many forms. However, it is always there. All people really need to do is recognize it's existence. Unfortunately for most, however, not everyone has been touched, truly touched, by the warm, caring hand of a muse, particularly my own.
