The Bachelor V 05/13/04
By Wendy Thompson

Q. What is your opinion about what happened on the 'Tell All" Special?

A. We did not see anything new during the whole hour, mostly the women repeating their harsh opinions about Trish, while she thrived with all the attention. You know, after observing some of her face expressions, I can say with conviction Trish would make an excellent Cruella de Vil.

Q. I believe almost everyone knew Mandy was going home today.

A. There was definitely no chemistry there. I am not going to say much about her date with Jesse, mostly because I refuse to comment on Trish's acting debut, something that was totally predictable and tacky. I do feel Trish's "grand entrance" was the only thing that kept Jesse and Mandy from falling asleep in each other's presence.

Q. There is no way I can make you get serious about this series, is there?

A. I am afraid it is impossible, my dear woman. This is one of those shows you need to have a good sense of humor in order to avoid changing the channel. I am sorry, but that is just the way I feel about this series; too much acting, and bad acting at that.

Q. I am going to ask you if you know who will be Jesse's final pick.

A. Wendy, anything that we see in this series is either semi-staged or heavily edited. I am going to go out on a limb here and say whomever he chooses will not be Jesse's life-long partner. He likes Tara, but there is much more to a relationship than steamy kissing scenes (believe it or not!). Seriously now, I honestly believe neither Jesse nor Tara would share much in common once they leave the show's artificial settings, and I cannot see her leaving everything behind, including Daddy, to follow Jesse in his uncertain professional future.

Q. What about Jessica?

A. I don't know, but after Jesse's insensitive statement in reference to falling in love with two different women, I feel it may all be melodramatics and Jessica is probably the one going all the way. It is my opinion it would be extremely difficult for them to make it if she is seriously pursuing an advanced degree. I assure you there is little room for external distractions when you practically have to dedicate a good 18 hours a day, seven days a week, to your studies. Believe me, that is no "piece of cake!" Furthermore, Jesse does not appear to me as someone who would accept being practically ignored, for several years, until she graduates and passes the Bar Exam. I honestly can not see them together long-term, but I would feel absolutely satisfied if at least one Bachelor out of five remained with his final choice for a couple of years.

Q. Do you believe anything important will come out of the hometown dates?

A. Absolutely, my dear Wendy, we will finally see the ending of this disappointing series.
