Chapter 8
Alex's POV

"Wow," was JC's only response. He had listened to my entire story (about my adoption, Kevin, and everything else), which had taken the walk back to his car, the ride back to Baltimore, and the elevator ride up to our hotel room.

"Wow, what?" Chris said, walking in the room.

"I just told him everything," I said, hanging my head guiltily.

"Everything?"

"Everything."

"Oh." With that, Chris turned on heel and walked out of the room.

"You okay?" I looked up at JC, who was looking at me concerned. I nodded and looked out the window, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to spill over. "No, you're not." He came over to where I was sitting on the window-sill and wrapped his arms around my neck, letting me cry on his chest. "Shh," he soothed. "Everything's gonna be alright. I promise." I sniffed and my tears began to subside. I moved over as much as I could and he joined me on the ledge. He slid his arms around my waist as we looked out past Baltimore City and onto the Harbor.

JC's POV

I looked down at her.

She seems so fragile and, well . . . helpless just sleeping in my arms, I thought, kissing the top of her head. She certainly isn't helpless, though. I mean, c'mon, she's been through an adoption, her foster mother's death, living with a younger brother, an older brother, and a father for twelve years, and she was just told she is the biological sister of some big*ss pop-star, who now thinks he can take her away from her old life and just throw her into a new one, which should have been her old one in the first place. Well, it's not happening. I won't let anyone take her away from me. Unless . . . I sighed, one single phrase repeating itself in my mind. Unless she wants to. There was a knock on the door and Alex stirred in my arms. Quietly unwrapping my arms from around her, I got off the window-sill and went over to the door. I opened it to reveal Melissa, Roxie, Justin, and lance standing there, their eyes all asking the same question.

"She said yes, but you can't come in," I said quickly before they tried to barrel me down. "She's sleeping."

"Okay, we'll come get you guys tomorrow for breakfast," Roxie whispered, smiling. "Congratulations."

"Thanks," I said, shutting the door quietly.

"Who was at the door?" I turned and saw Alex, still sitting on the window-sil, facing me, her eyes barely open.

"No one, baby," I said, walking over to her. "Here, lets get you into bed." She nodded in agreeance and let me help her up. I picked her up like a baby and cradled her in my arms, walking over to the bed. I laid her down and turned off the lamp beside the bed. Crawling in next to her, she smiled slightly at me before curling up next to me, falling asleep instantly. I played with her hair before falling asleep myself.
