This link is broken, but I still like the image they had.

detail from Time cover detail from 1955 Hamish Hamilton (London) CITR cover You can see old CITR book jackets and other things on eBay. For example, check out this cool drawing on the cover of Time magazine: 15 Sept 1961 (74K). Also, this 1950's British book cover illustrated with Holden and Phoebe. And a Russian book cover (I recommend searching eBay for "Salinger".)

[CD Cover] Detroit punk rock band, Caulfield's first album is entitled, Sleep tight, ya morons... You can buy the CD at Storm Records.

I could be reading too much into the 11&18 June 2007 New Yorker magazine cover, but consider the resemblance of the book the girl is reading to the rainbow-corner Salinger books, and this quote from Catcher in the Rye:

"They were so ignorant, and they had those sad, fancy hats on and all. And that business about getting up early to see the first show at Radio City Music Hall depressed me." pg. 74

There is or was a Catcher in the Rye pub in London! Here is the picture of the pub.

Finally, my good old cartoon of the catcher in the rye. It was part of the navigation illustration on the front page of this site for some time.
