When it come to setting a mood, David Arkenstone is unique. His music will take you to a world away or to a distant memory of your childhood. His music ranges from flights of fantasy, space music, Native American, and more rescently, pagan and wiccan. Each piece of his music comes with a passage to read, a small story. Read it through once, then close your eyes and listen to the picture he is painting. You will see it. None of his CDs have ever let me down. FAVORITE CDS :Wake in the Wind, Spirit Wind, Celtic Book of Days, Spirit of Olympia |

Ceredwen is named after the goddess. And a good name for them as well. For their art is like a goddess given gift. It is Welsh celtic music. The first time I heard of them was on a radio interview. Their first albulm was all songs that depicted the "Mabinogi" of welsh legends. they are still rather new, but their first 2 CDS are winners in my book. FAVORITE CDs: all |
Kitaro's music is made from dreams and visions of Asian culture. He has an air of Yanni about him but is a master all his own. One moment his music lulls you to a dream world and the next,it is electrifying. If you have a love of Asia, then I highly recommend his music. . FAVORITE CDs: all |
Laura Powers is a special lady in my life. I picked up her CD at a discount music shop and fell In love with it immediatly. Her voice echoes out the most beautiful pagan/wiccan lyrics to behold. Around December of 2000 I recieved a rather strange EMAIL from her thanking me for promotting her work. I was so unsure about what It was all about. It seems that she got my email address confused with another. To compinsate for the mistake she sent me a copy of her new CD that has not been released yet and said she would be willing to come to Tucson to do a concert and sign autographs. She is reallly remarkable. If you have never heard pagan music before, give hers a listen to. FAVORITE CDsLegends of the Goddess, Beyond the Pale |
Mikes Oldfield has been composing for a while now. His work is a bit haunting and at the same time mystical. I personally like his more rescent work. He is most known for his one composition "Tubular Bells" that appeared on the CD "Pure Moods". Haunting, yes. but very enjoyable and great for deep meditation, and outer body journeys. Give his music a chance to work into your life, rather than try to accept it. |
Enya took the world by storm back in 1993 with her most famous composition "Orinoco Flow". Ever since then the music just keeps on coming. She is a very beautiful woman and her music is enwrapping. The background to all of her music is celtic, though not always of the ancient Keltic world. One thing she accomplished, that not many new age artists have done, is put out a few videos as well. they are hard to find though. One of her last CDs was giving some of the old X-mas songs a New Age flair. FAVORITE CDs: all!!! |
When I first their work it was on a Britsh series called "Robin Hood". Clanad provided the mystical music for all the episodes. Their vive is truly haunting and mystical. Some lyrics are in keltic and make the songs even more enchanting. Later on the lead female singer left to cut her own CDs, which are also wonderful. But I will always know them as the group they once were. A side note: Enya song with Clanad from 1980 to 1982 FAVORITE CDs: Legend
| | This group sits in the middle of New Age, Spiritual, Gothic and Pop music. I was introduced to them when I heard their song "Return to Innocense". After I bought the CD that had the song I was hooked. Again, their music bouces to a wide variety, so one never knows what to expect from them. "Sadeness" and "Angels" are other hits of theirs. They, like Enya, have also put out CDs, and too, they are hard to find. But believe me, they are very original videos. FAVORITE CDS: SADNESS |
Born in Greece, this man has taken the world by storm. His music has a wide variety of ranges. It can be electrifing one moment and soothing the next. He has performed all over from the Acropolis in Greece, to the Forbidden City in China and the Tajmahal in India. What makes his music so unique in my mind, is his wide variety of instruments, keyboard, violin, bongos. They all come together into a masterpiece. Notably, he is married to the actress, Linda Evens. He tells people all his music talent came from his grandmothers influence and in concert at the Acropolis, he dedicated a beautiful piece to her. FAVORITE CDs:Live at the Acropolis |
Loreena Mckennit was one of the first celtic/pagan singers to come into the light of people across the world. She has had CD's out since 1985. What I think makes her music so different from many celtic artist is her use of arabic/egyptian sounds in her music. this gives it a whole new light. I first heard her music back in 1993 on a new age program on the radio. Her voice has been haunting me ever since. in 1998, her one song "The Mummers Dance" was played on POPULAR rock radio stations. With it came a video. Why is it new age videos are hard to come by? FAVORITE CDS:Mummers Dance, Book of Secrets, A Winter Garden: 5 songs for the season |
Elven Is a new pagan group that I just rescently discovered and fell in love with from the first song. I find there music sent a special mood that will take you to a whole new world in another time. A time of mystery and legend, where faery folk abound and adventure is found under each stone that is turned over. Enchanting and alluring to the sences. Great music for pagan/wiccan gathering, Renn. Faires and meditation. Sorry about the pic though. It is from their one album. I could not find a pic of the group. FAVORITE CDs: all |
This is another new group that I just discovered. Pagan at heart with an air of the new world and all together different, thats the best way I can discribe this group. Their music is great for meditation and to break negative energy in the house (believe me on that one, you will have to hear the music to understand what I mean.) Some of the music is haunting and some is the kind that you have to move your body to. there music may not be for everyone but if you have a chance, listen to their music and give it a chance. Again, this is a shot of the cover album. I will change it when I get a better picture. FAVORITE CDs: Odonata |
Well, I guess you can say that A-HA is my all time favorite group. And I am not saying that cause I am part Norwiegian. 3 guys from Norway took the country by storm in 1987 with a video "Take on Me". I was not too much into music at the time but this video caught my eye. It was done in an animation form of pencil sketches. The video was such a hit that the next 2 videos, "Train of thought and" and "Hunting High and Low" where done the same way. the group unfortunatly broke up, but the music lives on. Oh and as far as the name goes, the boys claimed, that they took it cause it is one of the few words that means the same thing in English and Norwiegian. FAVORITE CDs: ALL |

Brian Adams was another one of the first artists I was introduced to at a young age. This Canadian singers music has a flair of the 50's 60's rock and his music makes me feel good. Great traveling music on an empty road. It was his one song "Everything I do," that was special to a girl I once dated FAVORITE SONGS: Cuts Like a Knife, Summer of '59, Everything I do, |
I think it was Duran Duran that drew me to music. These guys are great. I must admitt that I liked their 80's music and videos a bit more than the current ones but all and all Duran Duran is on my top 5. There is something about their music that is so different than some, to me anyway. I guess my #1 song and video of Duran Duran's is "Wild Boys" FAVORITE CDs: all |
Ace of Base is another Scandinavian pop group that popped up in the early 1990s. From Sweden, these 4 young teens took Europe and America by storm with 2 hit, "All That She Wants" and "The Sign". After the two hits, they lost popularity. I still like their work though. FAVORITE CDs: The Sign |
OK! OK! So there is something about Scandinavian rock groups that I like. I don't know. ABBA was a bit before my time, but their music is still popular on the radio. Again we have 4 Swedish singers. They were a great great group of their time. It is unfortunate that divorce got in the way of their careers and broke up. And remember kids, ABBA spelled backwards is........ABBA FAVORITE CDs: ALL |
Rick Astley's carrer was rather short, lasting only a couple of years. It was his voice on the radio that lured people to like him. But when his videos came out, people were surprized that this deep voice was coming out of a 5'5" high white boy. That didn't stop him from collecting a grammy though. It is said that he was one of the easiest singers to work with. And a real charmer with the girls, so they say. FAVORITE SONGS: TOGETHER FOREVER, NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP |
Bonnie Tyler has a real remarkable and powerful voice. This gives real emotion to her work. When she first came on the music seen everyone thought see looked like a family woman and gave her little notice. That all changed with her grammy winning "Total Ecilpse of the Heart". A song and video that is totally amazing. I love her music and will always hope the best for her. FAVORUTE SONGS: Hero, Totel Eclipse of the Heart |
LInda Ronstadt has got to be my all time favorite pop female singer. She is beautiful and talented. What I never new until about a month ago, was that I move to Tucson Arizona and this is her home town. There is nothing I can say about her short of beautiful and remarkable. One of my new hopes is to run into her someday on the street. Wishful thinking my friends but wierder things have happen. FAVORITE CDs: ALL |
This is one girl I would love to meet. Cindy Lauper, is said to be one of the most fun girls to hang out with. When she first started out, she was all makeup and hair. But after the birth of her son, things began to change for her. Her music became less crazy and more solemn. She has also appeared on TV in the show "Mad About You" and in professional wrestling. No matter what her appearance, she is said to be sweet to everyone" FAVORITE SONGS: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, True Colors, Time After Time, She's so Unusual |
Through a friend who does taxes for big name stars, I had the fortune to meet Rick Springfield back in 1990. His music is awesome and motivating. He is a great guy to boot and a humanitarian. Music is not his ownly thing, he has appeared to soap operas, Battlestar Galactica and his own show "Nick Knight" He moved to America from Australia to launch his music career and became a teen idol. In an episode of "Laugh In" Rick was a guest, still young and with accent and all. FAVORUTE SONGS: Bop Till You Drop, Quenivere, Human Touch |
Every once in a while I like to step back from the norm and get a good laugh at music. And this is the man to do it. Weird Al has been called the king of parody music. It is said that no music entertainer has truely hit fame till their work has not been made fun of by this man. But singers are not the only ones to be attacked by this man, TV and movies too, like Jurassic Park, Star Wars and Forest Gump have been stylizied by Al. . . FAVORITE CDs: Al.....I mean all. |
Spotted Eagle Is my #1 all time favorite Native American music artist. His flute music is inspiring and is one of a kind. It can be whimsy, serious or sad and lonily. One can be taken back by his mucis to the days long before Europeans stepped foot on their soil. Young and inspiring is the best way to describe his music. If you have never heard Native American music, or if you like flute or panpipe music, then Spotted eagle is my number one choice as a suggestion. Great for meditation, praying and ritual practices. Carlos Nakai is an older musician and his music proves it. the voices from his flute echo voices of the native elders of past times. But don't get his music wrong. He is enjoyed by young and old. I was very fortunate not only to see him perform in a small gathering of nations but also to meet him. Carlos Nakai is not just for Americans but enjoyed world wide, especially in Germany and Austria. And he is not just a musician but a humanitarian, working to build homes for the homeless. A wonderful man all around. His flute music is ancient and enchanting to hear and great to play at shamanic gatherings. BTW: Thankyou for the gift Carlos!! FAVORITE CDs: Migration, Earth Spirit |
Kevin Locke's music is truely unique by way of Native American standards. Younger than Nakai, it is electrifing and fast past. One could say that it is "native rock" yet still melow enough to be enjoyed by all ages. I call him the David Arkenstone of Native Americans, for his music sends you on wonderful adventures throughout the early North American continent. I truly suggest giving his music a try and judge for yourself. FAVORITE CDs: All |
Joanne Shenandoah's music is just a joy to listen to. It has a native flair to it but also has a air of folk music. This is great road traveling music. Her work is mainly female based but enjoyable by all. Hers, as the other singers on my list are of the west, Joanne is from the eastern tribes. A wonderful voice and person to know. I was blessed to see her sing at a pow-wow in Atlanta, Georgia several years ago. Now if All these Native artists that I listed above, were to get a concert together, that would be awesome to behold!!!! FAVORITE CDs: ALL |
