Butterflies is a BBC comedy, that is you take a look at the hair styles and clothes , came out in the 80's. It is all about a poor house wife, Rhea, played by Wendy Craig. She is the mother of two grown sons and wife to a rather traditional husband. She is looking for so much more in life than what she is getting and one day, while in the park, she finds it. In the form of a divorced business man, Ben. Ben shows her the fun in life and makes her life a bit more meaningful again. And at the same time hectic.

Rhea is no saint though and her cooking is the proof in the pudding. (if the pudding was edible that is) Of course then there are the sons, who seem to find nothing better to do than torment their father with their modern teenage ways. At one point, one even chains himself to a museum statue nude, to make a protest. And then there is Ben, the father who seems so innoscent and in the middle of all this, yet in his innoscence, he is funny. The show is wonderful to watch and has a hidden meaning within each episode, but not the usuall "don't do drugs, don't drink and drive." They are all about doing something with your life. The theme song, "Life is like a butterfly" was create by Dolly Parton a year or two befor the show came out.

Here is another BBC that I never had a good chance to get into. "CHEF" is , well a chef. He runns a busy and tight shift kitchen in a resteraunt. Things with him are run by the book and he expects each worker to give 167% of themselves. He runs his kitchen like a well oiled army. (cooking oil that is) This goes as far that when he expects an answer from one of his staff, them must stand straight, military fashion and shout "YES CHEF!" When chef does not get as he askes he results to insults. One episode, he describes where one of his employees stands in evolution. Somewhere between toaster ovens and people who eat packaged soup.

Oh but Chef is far from being perfect, In his course of running a tight staff, he has taken many a blunder, including misordering food, firing the wrong staff member and setting fire to various meals, items and himself. Thank god he has his supportive wive to guide him through his mistakes. Not without taking a pot-shot at him first. I mean how could you not want to. This show, like Butterflies, has its sweet and tender moments though. If you are a chef, yourself, this is a great show to watch. Well its better than the Iron Chef anyway.

Night Man is another show That I got into at the last minute, sothere there is not much I can say about it. Night man to me was one of the more successful "superhero" TV shows, ranking just behind Superman of the 60's. Here is a modern day Super hero with all his modren day gadgetry. But along with it all comes a whole new set of modern villans, that I don't think superman of the 60's could have handled. One thing that grabbed me to this show, was it was not just about beating up the bad guys every episode. there are episodes that just deal with everyday life. Being a legend must take its toll some where and Night man shows it all. What is a love life like when your a superhero and the daily emotions are all there. I really wish I could say more about this show, but in truth I have not had the chance to see enough of it to give a real good review. But I enjoyed what little I saw of it.

Wizards and Warriors I saw when I was a kid. It came out just when role playing started to become popular. The show mighht have boosted the popularity for the games but did little else. In general, it was a very good show, for its time. The show depended more on the acting than anything else. Lets face it, TV special effects were still limited in the early 80's. The plot sinopsis is basic: The dashing hero is out to save the kingdom from the evils of the world. In this case, the hero is played by Jeff Conaway, of "Taxi."

Like I said in another entry, the show would have been better, but was timed very rong. I think If it were to be redone today, it would take off. That is, so long as the Xena style is left out. But for the 80's, the show just could not find a foot hold and only lasted a few episodes. The sets and the actting were well done, but the costumes and characters did need some work. But the show is still fun to watch.

Benny Hill has been called the Red Skelton of the BBC. But to me, there is no comparrison. While Benny Hill does have some memorabble characters, such as "Fred Scuttle," and his little boy, and that Hill is a pantimimist of sorts, The ethics are very different. Hills humour evolves around gorgious girls and sexual content. Yet it is all in humour and is funny for the adult commmunity. One is garrenteed a cast of atleast 5 girls in short skirts and a short old man. And Benny Hill himself. The show is composed of short comedy skits, that he and the cast have put together.

The end of the show is always the same. They start out with a comedy sketch that ends up getting Hill in trouble. At somepoint he comes out and says goodnight to everyone and then bolts when everyone starts chasing him. As the end credits role, there is a mob chasing Hill through the english countryside to the tune of "Yackaty Sax". The show took Europe and America by storm and still can be seen on video and repeats on TV.

Sugarfoot is on my top 3 best TV westerns of all. Though the show came out far before my time, I have seen practically every episode and love the show. First, everyone should know the meaning behind the show. Sugarfoot is a term used to describe a person that is too soft and tame for the old west. Tom Brewster is a sugarfoot. That is what everyone concieves him as. Just a guy boy that would probably blew away, if the wind picked up to strong. But the folk are all but wrong.

Tom Brewster is fast on the draw and faster on talk when it comes to staying out of trouble. He is played by Will Hutchins, who incidently played in several Elvis movies as well. Whats more, Hutchins played two roles on the show, not only Tom but Tom's Rival and outlaw "The Canary Kid." For those who are wondering where "The Hutch" is today, he is living in New York with his wife and runs not only his own website but a radio show as well. Check out my LINKS page. As far as Sugarfoot goes, What can I say, accept a masterpeice of the western media. I would gladly take watching Sugarfoot over The Lone Ranger, any day.

have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong? Well, the Black adder is having a series of lives where everything is going wrong. The series is from the BBC and is a absolutly harious mockery of history. Starting in the "dark ages," The Black Addder has always run into a series of bad luck, usually caused by the people about him.

You feel sorry for him? Now wait a second, you see when thinks don't go his way, well he becomes...cruel. Very Cruel. To the point of an assassin. The series plots along with several generation of the Black Adder family tree, all the way up to the present. Rowan Atkins portrayes the misguided fool and is just a laugh a minute.

Everyone knows the Legend of William Tell, right? The famous Swiss like Robin Hood who tried to fight for freedom of the Swiss people from Austrian reign. Well, you had to atleast have heard the Lone Ranger theme, right? Well that theme is called "the William Tell Overture." What most people do not know is that the leagend of William Tell is far from a short peom. It is a saga And this show, made in Canada is A great depiction of that legend.

The show is called "Crossbow" and it takes the legend of William Tell to a whole new level. Unfortunatly The show was yanked from TV before I had a good chance to get into it. The show follows the adventures of William Tell and his son as they try to save the Swiss people from tyranny. A fantastic cast and crew, with well thought out stories for family entertaimment. The show is far from any swashbuckling action. A pitty they never kept it on the air. I wish I can say that the show is on tape but so far I have not been able to find it at all.

Ever wish you could travel through time and space? Gquinn Malory and his Friends can. The show WAS called "Sliders" and by a device that Quinn created, he and his friends got wisked of to another demension of earth. Thats ok they have the device with them. the problem is that once their, the device was not working properly and now they are having a bit of trouble getting back to their own world.

This was a great show and the cast was great in all situations they were thrown in. In one world they found that dinosaurs exsisted and in another The old west was still alive and well. How would you like to invest in the stock market where you invest in the gabling abilities at a poker table? These were two of my favorite episodes. The show lasted a good loing time UNTILL.... they started to bring in other cast members and old once left. The death of Pro. Arturro was hard to take. He was such a lead character. But when They made the lead, played by Jerry O'Conner an alien and replced him with a brother charter, I stopped watching it all together. The first 3 seasons were great but after the the show just died.

"Tripods was a cool Sci fi Mini series that was on several years ago. It is based off the novel "The White Mountains. Picture a world that has been set back 200 years because of an alien attack that noone remembers. All they do know is that they share this world with other beings who "cap" them at a certain age. So what is this Capping ritual? Thats what Will Beanpole and Henry wanna find out.

The adventure starts in England when Will and Henry run away before they are capped. they do noy like the idea of a metal plate stuck to their heads by beings noone ever sees. The adventure takes them to France and finally to the "White Mountains." But once their the adventure has just begun. The mini series was broken into three parts and was never completed. Or at never shown in its whole in the states. A bit lame for todays stadards of what one expects but the concept is still great. Good luck in finding the series uncut though.

The famous story that was made famous by the greastest writer Homer is once again captured on the screen. Hallmark packed Odysseus' 5 year struggle into a 4 hour spectacular and , for me, succeeded with flying colors. From the birth of the kings son, to the Trojan War, to his fight to get home, the mini-series rocks high on my list. Of course the entire epic could not be portrayed and there was alot missing but they added alot of human feeling to it by all characters. When one sits down to think of it, Odysseos was alot like our modren Indiana Jones, in many ways. Among the cast are many world renown stars, Bernedette Peters, Vanessa Williams and Irene Pappas, who is well known for her roles in many Greek epics. Aside from them there are many new faces to the screen too and all combined, make a stunning movie for all to enjoy .

The acting is superbly handled be everyone. the characters are very beleivable, including the gods. For me the hioghlight of the movie was the portraytal of Athenae. Her appearance in the beginning and end is hauntingly beautiful. If your into greek epics, then this is a must have. the visuals are also well thought of including the cyclops and the authenicity of the ships, costeums and props. This is one of the many movies that I cannot get enough of. I was only disappointed in the fact that Next World was depicted more like the christian version of hell then what it was really meant to be like.

I have to admitt that the only reason I like watched "the Lost World was becaus I read the book and loved the original movie. If you are looking for a cool remake, look elsewhere because this was nothing at all like the original book or movie. but if you wanna be entertained for an hour it is ok. other wise there is not else to say about the show. It could have been done alot better. but from what I have seen Tv is now taking great novel and turning them to Tv epic adventures. Though the show has some moments, I will stick with the movie.

Once again the hero of America is adorned onto the TV. Abit younger and a bit bolder. "Lois and Clark" is a modern Superman for everyone to watch, not just kids, the action is there and it is more dangerous than ever before. what sets this show apart from all the other Supermen show, is that this one is nopt just about goiung out and battling the bad guys. The show takes a look at Superman from a whole new angle, from the eyes of Clark Kent. In fact most of the show is about Clark more than Superman. And I liked it that way. It gave him more of an appeal.

Everyones favorites are still all there, Jimmy Olsen, Man and Pa Kent, Perry White and of course Lois Lane. I had only one problem with the show in truth. The role of Lois and Clark were way to young. I kept wanting to call him Superboy instead of Superman. But the show is great for all Superb....I mean, Superman fans of all ages.

Being wiccan, it would only be natural to like "The Addams Family." And knowing now that I hate spin-offs ans remakes, you know the only real Addams Family is the original that started off in 1960. A house full off chaos and crazy folk. Gomaz seems the caring type and so does Morticia as two loving parents. Theres uncle Fester who anyone can get a charge out of and grandma is always brewing something up in the kitchen. Lurch is there to talk to if you need a open ear. Aside from all this there is a pet lion and man-eatting plants and cousin "it" that is covered in hair. Oh, and how can I forget "thing." All this makes for a 1/2 hour full of comedy and in some cases, paranoia. But why? the Addams' are just your aver....um.....well, semi aver......ok ok they are all around cooky and a little bit spooky. So get on and get a looky.....the Addams Family.......*Snap*Snap*

What do you do when you find out the woman you marry is a witch and her whole family are witches and warlocks? Panick!! There is no surprize to find "Bewitched" on my list of shows. Basically, you have Darron Stevens, who is an avertising agent. He married Samantha, a witch. A good witch. With the marriage comes a host of family and friends. One is Endora, Samantha's Mother who is not at all pleased with her daughter marrying a mortal and does anything in her power to seperate them. This show rocks.

Aside from Darron's inlaws, there is also the Kravitz's, the nieghbors. Abner is normal, but his wife Gladys is the nosey body and gets causght seeing all kinds of things in the Steven's house. Like Queen Victoria, Dodo birds and a host of other odd happenings. Half way through the course of its running, The original Darron was hurt on the set and was replaces with Dick Sargent. Then came Tabitha, their daughter, who inherited her mothers gifts. Then the birth of Adam their son who proved quiet mortal. Historically, The show was the first time that witches and the craft was shown in a good light. Topday it is not uncommon for Wiccan circles to have "Bewitched Parties" where all gather abopuit and watch the show. Fun to watch, despite its age.

Tabitha came out later when Bewitched ended. It semi took off with Tabitha Stevens grown up and making her place in the world. Magic and all. And with her is her very mortal brother Adam. The show was not a big hit really. It captured a small audience for a short time. But without the talents of the old cast, the show was lacking the spunk that Bewitched had.

If you ever find that you are tied up in a closet and there is acid slowly pouring in, all you need is a paper clip, and rubber band and some chewing gum. At least for MacGyver. This special agent has been in every situation imaginable. And he always gets himself out of extreme circumstances with his ingenuity and a few house hold supplies, like baking soda. The Macgyver was the only REAL show that I liked that involved esponage type adventure. It was kinda a cross of Richard Dean Anderson is a cross between James Bond and Indiana Jones. Though some of the situation got a bit silly at time, the actoion was great and the humor original. Thats why I liked the show so much.

"Solo" is another BBC of the 80's that drew on the line of half comedy and half seriousness. The show is based about pour Gemma PAlmer. She is a bit knew to the world and all its headaches and hassels. All she wants is the world to slow down some, so she can catch up. Let there always seems to be something to traumatize her. For one instance, see goes on a holiday to the country side. There she sees cows going into a building to be slaughtered. Just to come home and find her goldfish died. All she finds comfort in is her friend Sebation that gives her a tad bit of help. The show was well done and admid the comedy, it gives you a thought about life.

"Charles in Charge" Scott Baio is Charles, A young guy who is looking to make extra money to support him through college and a place to stay. So he takes the job of becoming the domestic of the Powell's. Its not the cleaning that is the torture, but the 3 kids that he has to deal with. Wild and unstrung they take over his life. Then there is Buddy played by Willie Aames, who is one sandwich short of a picnic. At one point the two are trying to get entertainment for a college happening. Buddy is able to get The Smothers Brothers' other brother. The show was hysterical.

Little House on the Prairie is a show loosly based on the auto-biography of Laura Ingles Wilder. Based in Missouri during the old west, this family, faces all the hassels and fun of the commoner farmer in the old west. The show lasted for years and saw cast come and go. From Births, deaths, adoptions and more. Not sure why I loved the show so much but I do. The show started out with the family of Charles and CAroline moving on the Prairie to start a family with their daughters Mary, Laura and Carry. One thing the show did, that so little shows did was that its was not always about the Ingles family.

Sometimes the show was about other towns folk, Like the Olsens who ran the merchantile in town, or their good friends the Garveys. In the couse of the show, Mary becomes blind, they adopt a son, Albert. Laura gets married, has a daughter Rose, more children are adopted and so on. The show encompassed almost 8 years of viewing pleassure. The show did break one groud of typical western shows. That was that it was not a typical shoot-em up western. The characters did not walk about with guns and gambling cards. It was life seen through the eyes of a typical girl of the west. Sometimes serious sometimes VERY comical. One should note that the show does not follow the writings of Mrs. Wilder but loosly based. Some stories never really happen and some are pure fantasy. There are even some inconsistancyies in the show, but nothing that can't be over looked.
