Lasher starts out as an unknown element. At first, we don't even know what a Lasher is. But slowly he is pieced together by the file from the Talamasca which tells us that he is a spirit. He was conjured up by Suzanne, a "cunning woman" back in Scotland. She used him to do her bidding, for mostly helping people, but made the mistake of using him to attack one person. After that, she was declared a witch and burned at the steak. The spirit, Lasher, then began to follow and obey Suzanne's daughter, Deborah. He acted as an invisible servant. For every generation, there was a designated female which Lasher served. Each female had children, and would designate (or Lasher would occasionally designate) a daughter to be served after she died.
He spent generations building the "Mayfair Legacy"; which consisted of money, deblooms, jewels, or anything else of value Lasher decided to venture out all over the world to bring back to his Mayfair witch. By the time 13 generations went by, there was some 7 billion dollars in this legacy, and the designated witch to recieve it became Lasher's new love, and also recieved the Mayfair Emerald. A green emerald necklace, bound in gold, which he origionally gave to Deborah, the second witch; who was also burned for witchcraft.
Lasher is the reason for the Mayfair family. He cunningly convinced certain witches to marry or mate w/ other witches w/ in the family or outside of it, he loved each and every one of his witches, but also hated them. He was like a child. He loved them, hated them, and used him for his ultimate goal...
