Millstones Don't You Just Love Them!

Millstones Don't You Just Love Them!

by
Theodore R. Hazen

Every millstones makes its own tone,
But it is the miller who knows how to make it sing.

If a millstone knew my design, I would break it!

A millstone is like the circle of life,
We go into a little seed and come out changed for the better.

If the Earth is my Mother,
Then the millstone is my soul,
The millstone and the soul are both at the center of life,
It deals with the good and the bad,
Both are lost, stolen, broken, worn down and laid to rest.

What happens between the two millstones when they are grinding,
Is as clear as the thoughts moving though my own mind.

Millstones they are pattern, design and art.
Millstones are at the center of the mill, and they are part of the flow.
Millstones: A mill could not do any work without them.
They are at the heart of the mill, and they are the mill's soul.
