Random quotes I like and unfortunately did not write myself:

"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like there's nobody watching."

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." -Herm Albright

"To be in love is merely to be in a perpetual state of amnesia- to mistake an ordinary young woman for a goddess." -H.L. Mencken

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." -St. Augustine

"The only way you can truly control how you're seen is by being honest all the time." -Tom Hanks

Proud Member of the Equality Project

Here is a poem that I did not write, that really touched me. I, for one, am very, very tired of people labeling eachother. I have friends who are of all sorts of races, ages and many who have *gasp* [please note sarcasm!] different sexual preferences.

Get over it. People are different. Just because you are gay, it does not mean that you are attracted to everyone of your sex. And if a gay person *god forbid* is attracted to you- it really should just be taken as a compliment.

Anyhow, before I rant any more, please read this poem.

Song Lyrics that actually have meaning!

PATRICIA by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones

There was a time in my life when I really wanted to be the subject of this song. Maybe now I know I don't have to be... I have always had a tendency to try and take the whole world on my shoulders.

"I see my girl's been forced to hide
A brand-new emptiness inside
I wish that I could fill the space
It's not my place to take the place
She's been hurt and she's been lost before
This loss has her alone once more
Even though my girl's alone
She stays together strong as stone
She stops my rain she calms my storm
Miracles she can perform
I've seen tough times she's seen me through
And always knew just what to do
So many rely on her
I'm one of them and I know it
When demons haunt inside of her
She fights hard not to show it
I've seen my girl been forced to take
Pain tragedy and much heartache
The tears she hides, the smile she fakes
And through it all she doesn't break
I don't know where she finds the strength
I'm only glad that she can
Just when I think my girl is down
She's on her feet again
I see her world before my eyes
Get filled with evil painful spiteful lies
Still she fights, still she tries
And she will fight until she dies."

Here's a Fugazi song that I think just sums up how I feel about a lot of the men I meet...

SUGGESTION

why can't I walk down the street free of suggestion?
is my body my only trait in the eyes of men?
I've got some skin you want to look at
there lays no reward in what you discover
you spent hours watching me suffer
suffer your words, suffer your eyes, suffer your hands
your interpretation of what it is to be a man
I've got some skin you want to look in
she does nothing to deserve it
he only wants to observe it
we sit back like they taught us
we keep quiet like they taught us
he just wants to prove it
she does nothing to remove it
we don't want anyone to mind us
so we play the roles that they assigned us
she does nothing to conceal it
he touches her 'cause he wants to feel it
we blame her for being there
but we are all guilty

TURN OFF YOUR GUNS from the self-titled album

turn off your guns
don't cut your skin no more
everybody's always saying,
if you hate life so much
what are you living for?
while we're still paying
you never hurt yourself
you hurt everybody else
and you talk about dying
but when your wish comes true,
and there's no more
we're still trying,
we'll be trying
this is not the end of you
nothing in life could be that bad

If you are reading this, and you have gotten this far, may I recommend a book to you: Susan Griffin's A Chorus of Stones. There is an essay called "Our Secret" that is at once incredibly powerful and touching. I know it is weird for me to be plugging a book here but it is really one of the best essays I've read in a long time.

HAVE A NICE DAY *#:)
