Hermia

Hermia is my character in Midsummer Night's Dream. Her name is Greek for "Well-Born". She is the Daughter of Egeus, a whiny bastard Duke, who wants to marry her off to Demetrius. Hermia is fiesty, and a strong-willed, domineering type, who wants to have her way.

Problem being, Demetrius has been engaged to marry Hermia's best friend, Helena. Hermia wants to marry her true love Lysander.

So her father drags her before Theseus, the king, who says that under Athenian law, she must either obey her father, become a nun, or die.

Of course, instead of doing any of those things, Hermia and Lysander decide to elope to an unnamed place outside of Athenian law and marry.

Then everyone gets bewitched by fairies, and all hell breaks loose in true Shakespearean style.
