A lovely date.

Last night Forest and I went out on a very lovely, fun date. We met after work at the pool, and swam for an hour and a half. We always have a good time when we're swimming, and Forest is a hoot to watch, because he grins from ear to ear when we play in the water. We tossed a tennis ball back and forth, played little games of tag, dunked each other, and were generally happy fish.

After a short dip in the hot tub and backrub, we showered and went to see a movie. We'd decided we were in the mood for light silliness, so we saw Scary Movie. It was alright, and we laughed. The best part of it was that it wasn't terribly engaging, and we were really into each other. We held hands, smooched a lot, smiled at each other in the dark, and groaned our way through the movie. It was positively lovely.

After the movie, we were hungry, and decided to go to Charlie Kang's for dinner. They have the most wonderful beef and broccoli, and Forest was excited to try some Korean dish he'd never tried before. As always, the portions were huge, the food was wonderful, and the company was great. I love my sweety. It amazes me that we have yet to run out of topics for conversation, and it never feels forced. We're just both chatters I guess. My fortune cookie said I was always confident and inspired great loyalty. Hmm.

As we left Kang's the air was perfectly warm and breezy, so we decided to take a walk. We started out in the formal gardens at MSU, strolling amongst the annual garden, and making our usual beeline to smell the roses. It's amazing how no two of them smell the same. We took a walk past the frog pond, and left a penny in the hand of the statue of the school's founder before heading to the children's garden. It has to be the most amazing garden I've ever seen; large parts of it look as though they belong in a storybook, especially in the moonlight. Time and again Forest stopped to wrap his arms around me and give me kisses. We love to hold each other so much, it's positively heavenly, and at the same time, it feels like home.

Speaking of home, we got home early enough to lie in bed and read our books until we got sleepy. I'm rereading Connie Willis' Doomsday Book, which I have missed greatly since giving it as a gift a few years ago! I'm incredibly glad to have another copy.

I'm not sure what we're doing tonight, but I don't think it will be anything terribly romantic like that. We both have the night off, and I think we're probably going to see X-Men (for a second time) with Forest's sister and her boyfriend.

Then in the morning, I get to go pick up the munchkin! I've missed Kirstin. I got a letter from her yesterday. It was short, and sweet, and said "Mom, I miss you, but I'm having a great time! Love, Kirstin". Awww.

Forest and I are apparently 'on' to have a small birthday shindig for her on August 5. Bill and Kathy have agreed, and they are the main 'required' people. It ought to be fun, but laid back. Low key. I'm not going overboard this year, honest.
