Ahhh Choo!
Augh! I love the outdoors. I truly and dearly honestly do. It's not just that I think it's pretty through the window. I want to be part of it: to roll around in it, rub my face in it, absorb it completely. I love to camp, and hike, and swim, and sunbathe on lonely beaches. Why the frustration? Here's the thing. Yesterday on my way home from work, it was a stunningly beautiful afternoon. I rolled down my car window, and let my hair down, and was really enjoying the spring day. That is, until my eyes started to turn red, teary and puffy, my nose started running, and I started to get a headache. Can you get allergies at the age of 25? Unfortunately, yes, you can. (As I am now all too aware.) So I rushed home to read every wonderful book that I have on how to feel better. All my homeopathic books say that you should stay indoors, and use a HEPA filter, and try to avoid whatever sets you off. But I LOVE what sets me off!! My traditional biology books say I should take antihistamines, and try to find one that doesn't make me too drowsy. Anyone who knows me can vouch that I have a very low tolerance for medication. *Everything* makes me sleepy. If I take cold medication, I'm down for 14 hours of solid sleep. If I take the non-drowsy stuff, I will be awake all night. None of these seem to be good answers.
Maybe it's this nasty filthy city. Maybe when I move the the country (where I never had anything like this) I can regain my outdoor constitution. Otherwise, I guess I'm going to be a sneezing sniffling wreck for life, because I refuse to stop going outside.
Today is meeting day at work. We will spend hours and hours in a conference room, going over all our great ideas and wishing we could fund them. It will doubtless be a long afternoon. After that I have rehearsal. It will be a long night, since I really only have one little line at the beginning of the scene, and then I exit, and get to sit there for the rest of the night. I guess I don't need to point out that I've been dreading today, and hope it will be over soon.
Guess I should get to work. I'm going to re-wire my office so my phone will reach my desk!
