wasted time vs. free time
I technically wasted a lot of time this morning. Instead of going to work, I went to urgent care as ordered by my doctor to get Xrays. It took until noon. So technically I spent an unproductive morning. But really, I quite enjoyed myself. Despite the fact that it was freezing in there, and I was forced to sit on an uncomfortable table, barefoot, for a long time while waiting, I was happy, because I had a book in my hand.I remember the same idea from my childhood. I was the first to run outside and play on a sunny day, but I was also always delighted when it rained, so I could curl up and read for hours on end. Books have become even more interesting to me over time. I read when I eat alone, when I'm waiting for anything, and whenever I can grab a minute. I used to keep a novel with me backstage during shows I was performing in, and read. I once read a great sci-fi story in a physics lecture, and burst out laughing, much to my chagrin. I could probably read through an alien invasion and not be interrupted.
So now I'm irritated to be back at work, since I had just gotten to a very suspenseful part of my book, and now I can't read on! At least, I feel it would be frowned upon.
This evening Forest and I are spending time doing martial arts again. The best part is that his Judo class starts at 6:30, which leaves me a full half hour to read my book before Tae Kwon Do club at 7! I'm also looking forward to club tonight, honestly. We're going to be working in a dance room on Thursdays, which will be really helpful, since it has mirrors in all directions. It will make it much easier to make slight corrections in forms. Forest will be joining in after he gets out of Judo, and we're planning to be there quite late.
It occurred to me today that I use some pretty obscure terms in my journal, and since I publish it publicly, I ought to be nicer about defining them. I already have a page identifying the people in my life, so today I'm going to add this page defining the weird words I use, by category. If I miss anything, please let me know.
