Where do I find software and book publisher's addresses? Book publishers The first place to start is with amazon.com the very best web site to locate books. DO NOT COPY THEIR REVIEWS! When you locate the title and publisher's name on Amazon you use the title or publisher's name to find their web site using your favorite search engine. From the publisher's web site you can get the mailing address. If you cannot find their web site try calling 1-800-555-1212 and asking the operator for their toll free number. You then can call and ask for their address. The Barnes and Noble web site is another good source. Request the newest books on the market when possible. These are the books that the publishers want reviewed so they can sell more books. You will find articles and reviews on many PC and Macintosh software titles. DO NOT COPY THEIR REVIEWS! Other good sources are any of your favorite PC or Macintosh magazines you find on the Internet. On the magazine's web site (almost all magazine now have a web site) you may find their toll free number or you can send an email requesting their mailing address. Start with www.yahoo.com and use the other search engines listed at the bottom of their main page if you want to expand your search. You may visit a computer hardware or software store and get the publisher name, address and phone off the software box. Call to get the publisher's address if only the phone is listed on the package. If the email address is listed then email a request for their URL or mailing address. DO NOT ASK FOR REVIEW COPIES IN THE EMAIL OR OVER THE PHONE. SEE WARNING BELOW. 1-800-555-1212 and ask for the publishing company's toll free number. If you are given
their toll free number, you can then call and ask for their mailing address. Warning: Do not call a book publisher or software publisher and ask for a review copy. You probably don't know how the process is accomplished. These publishers get hundreds of request each week for free or review copies. Their staff can easily recognize a person who does not know the ropes. Your request will be turned down politely and quickly. They will want to know who you write for, and samples of your previous reviews. When you write for Editor's Choice your name and the authorized request numbers on the review request forms we sent you are logged into a database that the publishers have access to on another private web site.
