THE KING SCHOOL

This building was used for many years as the school for students in and around the area of King Arkansas. One person that attended school there was Roy Wayne Jones. I don't know what years he attended there. When the school was no longer being used it was and still is being used by the Cossatot Arts. The information I gathered was that it was built in about 1915. This may or may not be true. When I was there taking the picture I saw an old hand pump that was probably the source for water when the building was being used for a school. My uncle lived just east of King in the late 1030's and until he died in 1942. We visited him often and I can remember going by the school when the yard showed the signs that the children were using it for a play ground. It is still to my eyes a beautiful building.
